Zayladi
Zayladi is the Goddess of the Sea, and is the chaos of her domain made manifest. Always hungry, never satisfied, always demanding tribute. Zayladi is a fickle goddess.
Her clergy and worshipers are rarely as evil as she is. Typically, they're sailors, or priests and merchants who live in coastal villages, and simply know enough to give her due tribute and respect to keep her satisfied. Rare is the ship voyage that doesn't begin with a hefty sacrifice to Zayladi. One traditional sacrifice in Normaer is the Zayladichen: a yearling goat, skinned and stuffed with a handful of copper coins,.
Zayladi is self-centered and demanding, given to sudden rages and hysterical fits. Her short attention span and histrionic nature prevent her from having any real long term goals, much to the relief of gods and mortals both, but this doesn't mean it is ever safe or wise to ignore her.
She appears as a short, scrawny but broad-postured woman, with bright blue skin and hair the sickening green color of the sky just before a coastal thunder storm. Her fingers and toes are webbed, and knotted seaweed hangs from her hair. She wears garments made mostly from seashells, coins, shiny rocks and palm-sized flat pieces of mother of pearl, but their erratic placement seems to have very little to do with modesty, and more to do with a greedy sense of decoration. Her mouth is just slightly too wide, and has just slightly too many shark-like teeth.
