New Years Resolutions 2024

Before I reflect:

I will preface this new years resolution with a bit of an admittance that the scope of authors i'm reading is quite narrow, i will admit that i have not looked as broad as i may could have, but i have been enraptured by Elspeth87's Velikka, and i have binge read a lot of their stuff. I have read some other stuff of course so my list is not one massive collection from the same author (although it kinda is tbh)

Chosen Articles:

  1. Macran by Elspeth 87   2. Borer by Elspeth87   3. Tribor by Elspeth87   4. Peacekeeper alliance by Elspeth87   5. The second micro rebellion by Elspeth87   6. Path choosing by Elsepth87   7. "Where the spirits come from" by Elspeth87   8. Cosmic bloom by nnie   9. Nomads of mercury by nnie   10. Swathia by Jandis

Resolutions

Now despite my scope of articles being quite narrow and not as broad as some other resolutions, i can still lift some tips going forward:   1. Learn usage of containers one of the things that captured my with Elspeth87, Jandis and nnie work is the way that they structure their individual articles. Their articles are compact, well structured so your eyes can jump around the page dynamically, one way i can get bring out this dynanism even further is...   2. Include images. The usage of images also helped immensely with the reading experience, and the way they were weaved into the containers just made the image and the contents "pop" in a way. Now Jandis and Elspeth87 utilized AI for their images, which I refuse to use for philosophical reasons. However, nnie used their own artwork for some of their articles, which while not as pretty looking, still helped immensely with giving a better reading experience. I'm an amateur myself growing rapidly in skill (i say this as a cope lmao), so if i keep going i will probably hit a point where i can post my own images in tandem with these more complex structured articles. Another element to help with formatting and stylizing is....   3. Create a custom theme. All three of the authors i have, utilize a custom theme, which really helps bring a certain character to their individual worlds. Elspeth87 theme for Vellikka is gorgeous, it sells this retro space vibe they seem to go for, and Jandis also has a good theme that enhances the fantasy genre they are writing their world in. While all of these will look nice, there is still one thing I need to improve on to really make my stuff work...   4. tighten up my style. Currently i'm writing a bit from an ARG standpoint, that i write my stuff as a student in-universe who is creating this wiki to bring to light various aspects of this forgotten past he uncovers in the archives. For now, this is novel, but needs refinement as i might risk alienating certain readers who are not really into heavy academia (okay, my stuff isn't heavy per say, but i utilize various terms that might be unfamiliar to people)   With the four points above, I'm sure i can soar and go even further for the next WorldEmber!
