Marcus kills Lord Thomon by stabbing Thomon with a stake in his coffin. He had Hescar open the windows and let the sun burn Thomon's physical form. High on the delight on freeing himself, he tore through the rest of the manor, killing the rest of the staff and leaving the Chain Devil trapped. He also returned and lay waste to the village of Klence , destroying all those he saw engaged in the burning of his mother.

The Bambers did not actively kill Nym, but they stood by as it happened. Seeing that, Marcus also left them to watch as the villagers were slaughtered, one house a night. He wanted to punish them with starvation, a slow and painful death. Then he pretended to be Lord Thomon and sent his commands by messenger or crony to make sure Nym’s home was taken care of.
