Savanna

The savanna stretches out before you, a vast expanse of golden grasses swaying in the warm breeze. The sun beats down, casting a golden glow over the landscape. In the distance, you can see a herd of creatures grazing, their dark forms contrasting against the bright grasses. The sky is a deep blue, punctuated by puffy white clouds that slowly drift by. It's a place of endless horizons and wild, untamed beauty. The magic of the savanna is as diverse as its inhabitants, the dry grasses are perfect for fire magic. The bright unyielding sun and the vibrant wildlife an incredible battery for energy magic.
Savannas are characterized by their vast expanses of grasslands, interspersed with drought-resistant trees and a distinct dry and wet season, typically drier in the summer months. They are also home to a diverse array of wildlife, each adapted to the unique conditions of this biome.   Wildfires are characteristic at the start of the dry season. For this reason, fire magic is incredibly powerful in this biome. It isn't atypical for entire areas of savanna to burn at the start of the dry season due to drought and incredible temperatures. Some say there are fire creatures that are known to be able to control and manipulate the fires, making them incredibly dangerous.

Magic in the Savanna

Energy magic is prevalent in the savanna biome, animals absorb the energy from the sun and store it in specialized energy cells, evolved from the energy magic in the area. This allows for use of force fields and explosive energy-based attacks in the savanna.

The use of and protection from fire is critical in the savanna. The spread of fire, the use of fire to herd prey. All tactics that are used for survival. Where predators are likely to use fire magic in an offensive way, prey are likely to do the same in a defensive way.

Surviving in the savanna

  • Water magic is not prevalent in the savanna, so having a reliable source of water is paramount to your survival.

  • Even though the savanna is an open landscape, the lack of landmarks makes it easy to get lost in this vast biome.

  • The savanna is typically dry, however is prone to flash floods. Staying alert is essential to your survival.

  • Fire and energy magic are the most important magics to have while traveling in the savanna.

  • The savanna is home to a diverse and formidable array of wildlife, adapted to thrive in the harsh and unforgiving conditions of the open grasslands.

In the small village of Kondor, nestled in the heart of the savanna, the people had always made do with what little resources they had. They had dabbled in energy magic to try to protect their homes with some success.   However, as the seasons changed and the floods became more frequent and devastating, the villagers knew they needed help. They sent a messenger to the nearby Dovaak outpost, asking for assistance in protecting their homes and livelihoods.   The Dovaak who were known for their mastery of energy magic, sent one of their own to the village. His name was Zoltar and he had a deep understanding of the workings of energy magic. Upon arriving, he immediately set to work, using his magic to strengthen the village's existing force fields and construct new ones to hold back the floods.   Thanks to Zoltar, Kondor thrived despite the harsh conditions of the savanna. The villagers had not only learned to survive, but they had also thrived, using their ingenuity and the help of energy magic to protect their village.
