There are many ways that void magic manifests in the world. Some examples follow:

• Portal Creation: Void magic can be used to create portals. Where do these portals lead? That's a question only a void mage could answer. They tend to protect their secrets.
• Erasure: Void magic has the power to erase things from existence, making it highly destructive. It can be used to eliminate enemies or obstacles, or even to eliminate entire areas or structures.
• Emptiness manipulation: You can use void magic to manipulate emptiness itself. Are you going to use it to amplify a spell, to hide something or will it be used for more nefarious things?
• Summoning: With access to other realms via portals summoning is a powerful way to reach out to summon creatures. This has the very real potential of backfiring horribly.

Localization

Void magic is most prevalent in biomes where there are vast expanses of nothing. Some examples below:
Caves: Caves are dark and spacious environments that are often deep underground. Being far away from life and their deepness and emptiness is the perfect setting for void magic.
Tundra: The tundra is a cold, barren and lifeless environment, void magic is likely prevalent due to the vast emptyness.
Desert: A desert is a barren, dry, and often hostile environment, it's a place that is void of life and potentially empty.
Deep Ocean: The deep ocean is an unknown and mysterious place, it's void of light and void of life. Void creatures likely live and practice void magic here.
Polar Regions: Polar regions are cold, barren, and inhospitable environments. You could find void magic here, if you don't freeze first.

Void magic is a recently discovered magic in this world. About 100 years ago, when the Dovaak moved a new settlement to the tundra, they stumbled upon this powerful and mysterious force.
It all began when an elder of their community passed away. During the mourning process, the Dovaak noticed that the corpse of the elder, which had been transformed into a pillar, as per their customs, was exuding a dark, pulsating energy. This was unlike anything they had ever seen before, and it piqued their curiosity.
The Dovaak decided to investigate this strange phenomenon and began to cast their traditional spells to contact the spirits of the dead. As they performed the spell, they felt a pull, as if something was drawing them closer. Intrigued by this strange sensation, they started to experiment with their spell, modifying it slightly.
After months of experimentation, the Dovaak were amazed to find that their spell had opened a portal to another plane of existence, a place where the energy and essence of the void reside. This discovery laid the foundation for the study of void magic and gave the Dovaak the ability to manipulate emptiness itself, a powerful and mysterious force.
