Favorite Son and Daughter
In the Kingdom of the Moons it is believed Thousands of years ago, four Goddesses came to earth, and when they came they were lonely, so they touched the earth and the Lunarians were born. Sons and daughters of each of the four Goddesses had the power of their respective mothers. Of the first, to shift from human to animal. Of the second, to speak and create matter from nothing. Of the third, to manipulate time and space. Of the fourth, to bring light.
The four goddesses loved their children, and wanted to dance and play with them all the time. but their children grew tired and had a hard time sleeping in the light, so the three Goddesses asked the fourth to turn off the light. She could not. realizing the only way for darkness to fall was to leave the earth, the four sisters had some choices to make.
They landed on all leaving so they could stay together and the Goddess of light would only look down on her children half the time, and she became the sun. The other Three sisters would check in often and they became the moons. When the Goddesses left, and the light left for the first time, all the children of light died in the darkness of night. When she came in the form of the sun to look upon her children, and seeing them dead, she cried, creating the first rain.
Her three sisters found the spirits of all the children of light and scattered them through the sky creating the stars. They told their sister what they had done for her, and when she came to see, they all hid, for all her children hate her for leaving them to die.
the Goddess of light cries often, and her tears have collected into great bodies of water all over the world.
The three Goddesses ask that all their children run about and amuse the Goddess of light during the day. They wish her to be happy, yet she still cries often, and when she cries, the sister cover the sky with clouds to hide her away while they consul her.
We learn from this story many things. First, there are enough tears in this world without yours. Crying is disrespectful to the Sun, who's suffering is much greater then anything we have to cry about.
Second, night is for resting, so we might amuse our Goddesses during the day. Those active at night disrespect the Goddesses.
Third, in death we can become stars, but we must not talk about the dead, as it will make the sun cry. Dying prematurely disrespects the goddesses. We only speak of those who die of old age.
Fourth, when it rains it is because we made the sun Goddess upset.
And last, We worship our mothers, the moons, we do not worship the sun, we only please her for our Goddesses pleasure. She represents weakness, while the moons represent restraint, control, and emotional maturity.
Favorite Son and Daughter are the two brightest stars of equal glory in the sky. we are unsure what they did to receive this status and honor, but we do know if someone dies and a star is born, their death is honorable in the eyes of the Goddesses who paint those who did well in the stars with the children of light.
