The Lady of the Desert
The woman walked on into the desert. Slow and deliberate steps brought her further and further into the dry, barren wasteland of the Guanyin Desert. Her pace had slowed considerable since she had first started this journey. Exhaustion and thirst were beginning to become issues at the forefront. She continued on seemingly unaware of the situation that was growing evermore dire around her. Her hands moved in strange repetitive patterns as her legs continued to carry her further and further in the hot sands.
Suddenly jolts of arcane energy shoot from her hands like sparks. It is apparent now she is performing somatic components to a spell, but which one is the question. Her pace quickened a bit but her breathing had increased and she could feel the need for water finally coming to her. But none of this stopped her nor deterred her will to continue forward. Each step bringing her closer to some destination only she knew.
With a sudden jolt she stopped her forward movement and began to stare at something that didn't appear to be there. Her hands had increased in speed and now she was muttering some words in a long ancient forgotten tongue. Her voice sang along the sands with almost musical quality and a guttural background at one and the same time. Her noise came to a crescendo, and movements stop. She brought in her arms, grabbed from nowhere into what seemed to be a zipper in the air. She pulled out a container and slushed water into her mouth and over her shoulders. A sigh of relief escaped her as she put the container back in the interdimensional space.
With that she began walking again with renewed determination. However this time another sound could be heard. It was the sound of shifting sand. It grew louder as she continued to move and eventually it sounded like the rattle of bones and sand grinding against one another. Out from beneath the sand a skeletal hand appeared and pulling itself up was a living skeleton. It began the slow froward march behind the woman. Soon many more hands popped up from the sand and began following the woman. She quirked a smile and strode forward with her army.
