The Tatters Goblin Insurrection (Tat-terz)

The Tatters Goblin Insurrection happened nearby to the city of Inkonai in 821 After Founding. It was a skirmish between the local Republican Army forces and a clan of Goblins known as the Tatters. They had been attacking caravans and traders along the Republic's Road. Finally General Ulsis Hohn petitioned the General's Council for permission to engage the Goblins. After waiting for about a month he was given permission to eliminate the threat with as little violence as possible.

With that he marched two battalions of Infantry including archers, a regiment of mounted soldiers, and ten Spitting Dragons to where his scouts had pinpointed their main hiding place. With this large force he came upon the location and the Goblins met him in battle. Although to call it a battle would be an understatement. In official records it is known as a skirmish. The Spitting Dragons alone broke much of the morale of the Tatters clan with their rain of fire. The mounted soldiers were primarily just there to guard the flanks that never got attacked. The two battalions of infantry pushed forward as the Goblins retreated into their holes.

The skirmish ended with them routing out most of the clan within the network of tunnels there. For the rest they were able to escape and run away, although completely shattered and battered. The grand total of causalities for the Republican Army was 5 infantry soldiers. On the Clan Tatters side it was estimated anywhere from 500-1000 were killed that day. Due to the fighting in the tunnels and lack of clear communication it was hard to tell. For sure they know that 562 were killed outside the tunnels before the Army chased them underground.

After this there was not another large uprising of Goblins, or anyone else that matter, for a very long time. There were rumors circulating about a man called the Rhino bringing together a force of monstrous type races, but those seemed to be rumors. Most especially didn't believe it remembering the Tatters Insurrection and the overwhelming victory the Republican Army had won that day.

The Conflict

Deployment

Spitting Dragons were deployed and rained fire down upon the opposing force Large number of casualties from this initial action Upon a charge forming the infantry was readied for a echelon maneuver The infantry took on the meager charge and pushed the remaining forces into their tunnels The order was then given to pursue to reasonable distance and success in the tunnels Infantry forces entered and continued to push the opposing forces in retreat By the early morning of the 6th of Ba Yue the infantry forces were returning from the action in the tunnels The army was reformed and marched back to Inkonai to report a successful action

Battlefield

The battlefield was primarily an open field in front of a tunnel network. The most fighting happened on the open field from the Spitting Dragons and the infantry moving in on the Goblin charge. Not very many trees within the open field itself. It was quite rocky and plain due to it being the start of an underground set of rocky tunnels. The final fighting took place within the tunnels of the Tatters Clan. It was quite dark and damp. However many soldiers had darkvision or goggles of night to aid them in the battle. The army pushed a fair distance into the tunnels, finding a central hub, but not much past that as it was clear victory had already been won.

Conditions

The day in question of the battle was within the autumn season of Zhen Gho. In that light it was a bit colder that day with some overcast. However overall no inclement weather or terrible conditions for the battle. Nothing to hinder either side during the battle.
