47. Through the Caverns

General Summary

After two days of preparations, the adventurers began by meeting their guide from the Cloaks, a gnome named Mappy. The scout leads the party through Wiltide’s underground system into a connecting series of natural tunnels. They took care to traverse the caverns’ natural obstructions as well as kept their presence hidden from its native creatures. The group rested at the cusp of the junction to the underground complex, fortunately doing so without any disturbances. On the following day, they reached a massive subterranean expanse which had seemingly manmade structures built into and out of the cavern walls and floors. The group attempted to proceed through the area covertly but were eventually detected by feral monstrosities. They made an escape as the creatures assaulted them, but as members staggered, the attempt prolonged. Ultimately, the entire retinue was able to escape by dispatching the present monsters, though they refrained from slowing their pace with the threat of attracting more. Proceeding invisibly, the group made their way towards the base of a tower carved into the subterranean walls and scaled it to reach the basement entrance to Vorstone Prison. After a brief rest, the party at last proceeded into the basement where they encountered the room of their point of entry sealed off. They used magic to muffle the noise as they broke through the wall before at last coming into sights of nearby guards, who remained unaware of their presence.
