Communion of Visloism

Visloism, a unique belief system that diverges significantly from the Faith of the Tenfold, is characterized by its emphasis on the cosmic struggle between dualities. Prophet Vislo, also known as the Bringer of Perspective, introduced these teachings to his followers in a series of letters, eventually leading to his execution for heresy. The core tenet of Visloism centers on the notion that the gods represent the eternal dualities in the universe, and it is the responsibility of mortals to maintain the Universal Synthesis—the equilibrium between these opposing forces.

The Old Synthesis and the Obsidian Void

Before time and creation, the universe existed as the Old Synthesis, depicted as an Obsidian Void. During this period, the gods were mostly powerless, as the cosmos remained formless and undifferentiated. It was only with the actions of Bywyd, the Creator, and Temporiana, the Keeper of Order and Eons, that the Old Synthesis shattered. This momentous event marked the emergence of dualities within the divine realms. Eidolon, one of the gods, became the embodiment of the Obsidian Void, working to undo Bywyd's Creation and Temporian's Order. Eidolon also played a role in splitting other aspects of the Old Synthesis to introduce chaos into the newly formed creation.

The Role of Mortals

Vislo taught his followers that they play a pivotal role in the cosmic struggle between dualities, which adds complexity and depth to their worship of the same ten gods found in the Faith of the Tenfold. This perspective necessitates veneration of the Radiant Ascendancy, believed to be the benevolent gods who represent order, creation, and the maintenance of balance in the world. Mortals are tasked with upholding the Universal Synthesis and warding off the Obsidian Eclipse, the gods who seek to return existence to the Obsidian Void.

The Radiant Ascendancy

The Radiant Ascendancy embodies the goodness of the gods and represents benevolence and order. Bywyd, the Creator, is credited with crafting the first beings and bestowing life upon them. Temporiana, the Keeper of Order and Eons, brought structure and time to mortal existence. Aegria, the Earthmother, introduced agriculture, ensuring that mortals could provide for one another. Coedwyn, the Arboreal Guardian, offered the gift of plants and herbs for sustenance and healing, as well as protection against malevolent forces. Undinara, the Tidecaller, provided fresh water for survival, tides for cultivation, and the seas for travel and abundance.

The Obsidian Eclipse

In Visloism, the Obsidian Eclipse does not necessarily represent evil; rather, these gods embody forces that, if unopposed, would plunge the world back into the Obsidian Void. Eidolon, of the Obsidian Veil, is the first Shard of the Void and is associated with chaos and the unknown. Xuan-Ra, the Harbinger of Endings, is the second Shard, bringing about events like the Skyfall and the undoing of life. Azriman, the Flamebearer, represents elemental fire and its destructive power, while Zephyrion, the Stormbringer, symbolizes the ever-changing and chaotic nature of winds and storms. Ferronar, the Lord of Armaments and War, is seen as the god responsible for providing mortals with the tools of conflict and greed, leading to war and distracting them from their true purpose.
In the eyes of Visloism, the balance between the Radiant Ascendancy and the Obsidian Eclipse is at the heart of the cosmic struggle, and mortals must choose to align with the benevolent forces to maintain the Universal Synthesis and preserve order and harmony in the world.

The Dragons of Duality

also referred to as the "Harmony of Dualities," is the profound symbol of the Communion of Vislo, a unique and unorthodox belief system that places great emphasis on the eternal cosmic struggle between opposing forces. This striking emblem represents the delicate equilibrium between the Radiant Ascendancy, symbolized by one dragon, and the Obsidian Eclipse, represented by the other.     The Dragons of Duality serve as a visual manifestation of the core tenet of Visloism—that of the eternal balance of dualities in the universe. These dualities encompass light and darkness, creation and destruction, and order and chaos, all existing in a perpetual cosmic struggle. The Dragons of Duality remind adherents of Visloism of the delicate equilibrium they must uphold to prevent the resurgence of the Old Synthesis and the Obsidian Void.
