Ramzanova House Legacy
The history of the Ramzanova nobility from the Duchy of Gelvou in far north of Aurorastra is marked by a deliberate avoidance of marital ties with the prominent Jacquinot line. The Jacquinots, recognized as consecrated rulers by The Faith, had struck a historic deal, offering Rouen to the Church in exchange for a declaration that their destiny was the holy ordained rule over the people of Aurorastra. This consecrated status bestowed influence from the Church and larger noble houses, which the Ramzanovas purposefully circumvented in attempt to maintain their independence from the larger political intrigue of Aurorastra.
In 1103 CE, a pivotal moment reshaped the Ramzanova legacy. Lena Levandi, a member of the Levandi family whose heritage traced back to Rodolphe Jacquinot, entered into matrimony with Gustov Ramzanova. This marked a significant departure from the traditional avoidance of Jacquinot ties by the Ramzanova family. The marriage of Lena Levandi and Guskov Ramzanova ended years of hostilities between Covatei and Gelvou, briefly making the Ramzanova line vassals to the Levandi of Covatei.
The year 1210 CE witnessed a grand turning point in Gelvou's history through the Grand Tourney held in Covatei. In the final joust of the tournament, as per tradition, the King Petre II, inquired about the wishes of the final contestants. The two competitors were his son Lander and his distant nephew Guskov Ramzanova.
Publicly, Lander, the king's son, declared his wish to be a wise king, benevolent to all of Covatei. Seizing the opportunity, Guskov expressed his commitment to fight for the honor the Gelvou people.
What began as seemingly simple pleasantries took a profound turn when Guskov emerged victorious.
Following his triumph, he demanded an audience with King Petre II and Primus Pontifex Alenia Qinvaris. In a bold move, Guskov leveraged his victory and the consecrated Ramzanovian lineage which was established through his grandmother Lena Levandi's marriage to his grandfather Guskov the Seventh, to seek Gelvou's independence and the termination of vassalage. The unexpected citation of the consecrated lineage compelled the king and the Pontifex to grant Guskov's request, marking a pivotal moment in Gelvou's history and securing its second independence. Thereafter, Lander Levandi would be referred to as Lander "The Foolish" by commonfolk and nobility alike.
The Grand Tourney not only freed Gelvou from vassalage but also reshaped the political dynamics of the region, marking the assertion of Gelvou's autonomy on the Zentrum stage.
