The Arcane Railway

The Arcane Railway is a new and revolutionary transport system recently implemented in the Zeonian Empire by Ashton Morslade. The Arcane Railway is propelled by entirely renewable energy via arcane means first theorized by James Nailo.
The Arcane Railway connects all of the Zeonian Empire's major cities, with stops at trade hubs and larger towns along the way. A new era of communication and urban life has swept through Zeon following the implementation of the railway.

Power Generation

Tiny fire elementals hover in the internals of the Arcane Engine and boil vats of water to create steam, powering the Arcane Engine.

Propulsion

The steam from the fire elementals is piped into the cylinder atop the engine car, moving a piston that in turn propels the train's wheels (much like a real-world steam locomotive).

Weapons & Armament

The arcane railway is unarmed. Passengers are required to relinquish their weapons and/or magical channeling instruments to attendants when they board the train.

Armor and defense

The engine cars are heavily armored as a byproduct of their functionality; the power generation area requires that it be surrounded by heavy metal plating to ensure the fire elementals (and their blasts of fire) stay contained.

Communication Tools & Systems

A P.O. speaker system feeds through each car, leading back to a microphone in the engine car that can be accessed by the Engineer and the Chief Attendant.

Varies from rail to rail. The shortest rail is 483.2 miles, the longest 1089.43 miles.

Height

The railways are 1 meter tall. The Arcane Engine is 5 meters tall, and the attached cars are anywhere from 4 to 6 meters tall.

Speed

The Arcane Railway travels at 319 miles per hour at full speed. An untethered Arcane Engine being pushed to its limit can travel at speeds in excess of 400 mph.

Complement / Crew

An engineer runs the Arcane Engine from within. Conductors take tickets at the railway stations. Servers and Attendants care for passengers and cargo during the trips.
