ABOUT
This clear, slightly red-tinted liquid carries an unpleasant smell to it that few can concretely describe but which all describe as off-putting. Though its source is unclear and the stuff of myth, Red Sear is an inherently boiling and searingly hot substance that can vary wildly in taste - ranging from tasteless if not slightly sour to salty, to even tasting even stranger with tastes such as fruits, ash, charcoal, or in especially rare cases brimstone described on irregular occasions.
It is commonly described as the sister substance to the high addictive Blue Frost - product of the Dai-Yukai as the Red Sear is a product of the Eldragi. Since the devilish giants are descendants of the Dai-Yukai, they are believed to have carried the curse or methods of producing Blue Frost with them into the hottest reaches of the world and, just as they themselves mutated into something wholly different, so too did the substance they produce.
Though its source might be unknown, it is a substance created by the Eldragi alone - and typically sees use in their burning war camps to keep any slaves or indentured servants in line and bind them to the tribe that they now 'belong' to, for better or worse. It does not see frequent use outside of areas of heavy Eldragi influence, though more insidious, evil, or enterprising merchants have made lucrative dealings buying the substance that the Eldragi see as mostly worthless since it is so plentiful to them and selling it to underworld organizations as a tool to control the rabble. With its unpleasant side effects of lowering intellect but boosting durability, the unpleasant smelling liquid is ideal for keeping prisoners and other slaves and servants docile and stong.
However, true to its burning mistresses that produce it through unknown means, it carries in it not only the blood of giants but also the curse of the Eldragi - meaning that not only can it sometimes lead to a slight biological transformation into a devil-blooded being infused with fire(A process that the Eldragi see as favorable, since it increases the target's survivability in hot weather environs), but can also bring about a deadly transformation into a devilish Imp while simultaneously also running the risk of literally damning the soul of those who ingest it, placing it into the grip of the Eldragi in question the individual dose traces its roots to. These Imps and soul-damned creatures are often taken in as useful slaves and familiars in Eldragi war camps, who can both be seen in the employ of the devilish giantesses serving at their whims. While a terrifying backlash effect, it has not stopped either the Eldragi or those who purchase this substance from taking advantage of it.

EFFECT
On a natural one made to save from this drug or the effects of its addiction, a creature must succeed on a Will Save equal to the drug's current save DC or have their soul condemned to the grip of the eldragi the Red Sear dose from sourced from. Additionally, you must pass a fortitude save at the same DC or be immediately be reduced to one point above your death threshold and begin bleeding out. Creatures with the devil subtype are immune to these effects.
EFFECT
1% chance to transform into an imp. Creatures of 7HD or above become Imp Consulars instead.
