Age of Creation

Unknown(Pre-History)

Age where reality took on its most basic shape, where The Old Gods created the High Vampires and the New Gods created 3 races in the beginning: The High Dragons, three great dragons(Platinum Dragon(To represent all metallic dragons),Rainbow Dragon(To represent all chromatic dragons), and Sovereign Dragon(To represent all imperial dragons)) who were created to act as "Anchors" to keep reality intact, and to serve as living faces of the gods on the material plane. They were also originally designed to create life and sculpt the realms of reality to accomodate the life that would come later. The High Elves. The original High Elves were created to be immortal wardens of reality, to live in eternal vigil and watch over all things as impassive third parties to all. The Titans. The titans were created to be the defenders of reality, and the right hands of the gods. This age ended with the extinction of the old gods and Vvaal's appearance in reality, and the subsequent destruction of El-Adri, the first city at the boundary of reality. It was a time of ancient pre-history where little was formed and all was new.

    Death of the Old Gods
    Era beginning/end

The bastardous Yema, better known as the 'New Gods', finally could not contain their greed or animosity towards the Old Gods for giving the Yema's first creations, the High Races(High Elves, High Dragons, and Titans), freedom from the control of the Yema and the gift of sentience and free will - and over this, the Yema went to war against the Old Gods in a cataclysmic war that culminated in a slaughter so cataclysmic that parts of reality were permanently torn asunder, as the Yema tore the original creators of reality apart to take their power for their own. Spurned by this genocide, the primordial Yema of obliteration and oblivion would awake and devour the first city forged by mortal hands.

Age of Silent Vigil

Unknown(Pre-History)

Age where the Major Gods vanished back into the outer realms and went quiet, leaving the material plane to fend for itself as all fell silent and still, while the three original races continued to serve their purpose in the absence of their creators. They were the only life in reality aside from animals and Vvaal's monsters, which they took up the mantle of defending and defeating. This ancient Era was defined by wars and skirmishes between the Titans and the High Dragons, who created lesser Dragonkind in their image to serve as warriors in their fights against the Titans, as both races believed they were the rightful rules of the material. The Elves stayed neutral, watching over both, and settling disputes between the two when they got too intense by stopping wars and such. Lasted for thousands upon thousands of years, if not more, and during this time, the central concepts of reality had yet to form, such as time, fate, etc.   The High Dragons used their power over life and elements to sculpt the world exclusively for their own gain, and began to create horrible lesser forms of life designed exclusively to serve their own greedy aims. They did not create any of the modern races, but this was when the aboleth and other ancient races came into being, made by the High Dragons to serve them against the Titans. Zheng Kitar became the focal point for many of these conflicts, as the Old Gods had been entombed there by the New Gods before their vanishing. The High Elves stood as wardens to these tombs and kept them out of the hands of the other two races.

    The Return of the Yema
    Era beginning/end

The Yema, now christened the "Major Gods", returned from their eons long seclusion to find the High Dragons locked in an eternal war with the Titans, both eager to use their immense power to proclaim themselves the rightful rulers of all the material planes left behind in the Yema's absence.   The High Elves, the only one of the three that remained neutral in the Yema's absence and continued their duties as they had been commanded, were spared the ensuing storm of destruction and punishment unleashed by the Yema on the High Dragons and the Titans alike, stripping both of their power and reducing them to Dragonkind and Giantkind as they are more commonly known today.

Age of Genesis

Unknown(Pre-History)

An age likely lasting millions of years, where life began anew on Zheng Kitar and reality and spent eons returning to its full glory, as the gods had demanded their creations earn their sentience and power through evolution and time. Things during this time were overseen by the High Elves, who served as the wardens of the land and the material. However, the New Gods didn't predict how dedicated to "balance" the High Elves were, and during this age as they watched over the races of Zheng-Kitar they raised them to see all things neutrally, and instilled the values of The Balance into each and every one of them, as well as teaching them how to listen to the world and the song of the elements as they could. They taught them of the Old gods and the true histories of the world, which they saw as their impartial duty.   During this time the primordial races evolved into their modern forms over millennia, learning from and being guided by the High Elves in all things. The Major Gods mostly left the land of Zheng-Kitar alone to focus on other things. Ended with the High Elves discovering the tomb of Rakmou Dahmu, last of the living Old Gods, and learning the truth from him as he slumbered.

    Rise of the Sapphire Elves
    Era beginning/end

The beginning of recorded history, the Sapphire Elves - a term used to describe the High Elves before the Yema stripped them of their true power - rose to form a unified empire after eons of quiet evolution across reality. Rising up to form an empire that spanned galaxies and crossed the Material Plane, they took up the role of Shephard on the material plane after they found the tomb of the Old God Rakmou-Dahmu, who spoke to them great secrets that spurned the normally vagrant High Elves into action, motivating them to form an empire and personally lead the other races for reasons unknown.

Age of Sapphires

4780 BSK 1367 BSK

The first age of recorded history where life on Zheng-Kitar began to flourish and civilizations began to develop. The races grew up, their ancestors taught in the ways of the balance by the High Elves, and grew up with the same elemental gifts that the High Elves did, though they only had a fraction of their potential. The High Elves rapidly grew into a highly advanced society, expanding throughout the Material Plane with the knowledge learned from Rakmou Dahmu. They developed the first "Sky Cities" and ascended into the heavens as the great protectors of the cosmic balance, watching over and guiding all races from the beginning of their evolution to their full potential.   During this age, the High Elves finally cracked open the prison-tomb of Rakmou Dahmu during this time, and released him into the world. This was when the first Tortles came into the world, as tadpoles born from Rakmou Dahmu's shell. The First Elves appear during this time, as lesser offshoots of the High Elves and their fraternizations with the primordial races and each other. The Pinnacle of High Elven invention is their "Sapphire Citadels", or the "Elven Skycities". They were great marvels of creation, things of perfect balance between the raw power of the Lattice, the natural word, and the ingenuity that comes with creativity and/or mortality, all gifts from the old gods.   The High Elves' freeing of Rakmou Dahmu enraged the New Gods, who waged a war on them like they had done the High Dragons and the High Dwarves, to purge what they saw as a faulty creation. The High Elves warred from their sky citadels against the gods for centuries uncounted, backed by the power of Rakmou Dahmu. They warred with the belief that the New Gods were anathema to the balance of reality, and that purging them was vital to the survival of all beings. This war lasted for so long because they were literaly backed by the lattice itself, Rakmou Dahmu, and their own immense power. They fought off the gods for centuries and even millenia, but eventually fell to corruption and infighting, as one of their own betrayed their people and allowed the New Gods to triumph.   Marked by the collapse of the High Elven empire, their loss in the Godwar, and their defeat at the hands of the New Gods. Their citadels were grounded and buried, and though Rakmou dahmu was freed and could not be rebound without untold collateral damage and risk of destroying reality, the vengeful New Gods stole their High Elves' ability to feel the natural world, cursed them to wander forevermore, and gave them the curse of the Earthslumber while stealing all their memories away of such events, scattering them around reality as punishment.   The High Elves, however, won in a small way, as their teachings lived on in Zheng-Kitar at the end of the age. The people there embodied their beliefs, and soon it became apparent the High Elves had passed down their secrets of elemental control and the teachings of the balance to the creatures that had gone to live there, though the New Gods had stamped out this faith elsewhere.

  • Closing Year of the Age of Sapphires
    Defeat of the Sapphire Elves
    Era beginning/end

Though the Yema were clear in their orders of abandoning the teachings of the Old Gods and their ways, the Sapphire Elves ignored the orders given to them and cracked open the tomb of the Old God Rakhmou-Dahmu, speaking to the ancient Old God and making peace with it, learning of the sins of the Yema and the evilness with which they schemed - and using its awesome power to found their galactic empire.   Though they warred mightily against the Yema, in the end the Sapphire Elves could not hope to match the true rulers of reality - and in their defeat, they were cast down, stripped of most of their power, and made into the High Elves of the modern day - pale, broken husks of what they once were. Their empire laid low and Rakmou-Dahmu at large, the Sapphire Elves were broken and the people they had sought to protect and enlighten in the ways of the Old Gods were now wholly vulnerable and exposed to the attacks of the Yema...who now sought to destroy them, and all to whom the Sapphire Elves had taught the blasphemous teachings of the Old Gods to.

Age of Desolation

1366 BSK 1 BSK

A long and terrible age, and a period of bloody destruction where the New Gods, fresh after defeating the High Elves and stripping them of all they once were, took out their wrath on the people of Ea, waging war after war to eradicate all that which the High Elves had protected and finally be rid of the teachings and memories of what the High Elves once were and the heretical teachings and techniques of elemental harmony and manipulation they had passed down to them. During this time the world was scoured clean of the teachings of the High Elves, and eventually all but Zheng-Kitar fell to the influence of the New Gods.   The people of Ea had no chance during this Era, without the High Elves to protect them. It was centuries of losing battles after losing battles where the agents of the New Gods purged all who supported or favored the High Elves or their teachings. The Era ended when the last six survivors on Zheng-Kitar, last bastion to fall during the Age to the New Gods, now revered as the Six Great Ancestors, managed to invoke the six Spirit Kings using their own bodies as sacrifices, giving these ancient things brought into being in the Age of Sapphires by the High Elves corporeality and the strength to drive off the New Gods and their armies.

  • Closing Year of the Age of Desolation
    Advent of the Spirit Kings
    Era beginning/end

Now bereft of the protection that had once been given by the Sapphire Elves, the last remnants of those who kept the teachings the Sapphire Elves and fought back against the Yema were forced back to Hyeojiin Island by the forces of the damnable Yema - who sought to destroy them to finish their war of obliteration.   Forced into a corner with no better option, the last six survivors of the war performed a grand ritual in a desperate last resort to save the teachings of the Old Gods from total destruction - and summoned the Spirit Kings by sacrificing their bodies and souls to become vessels for the infinite, otherworldly might of the Spirit Kings.

Age of Rebirth

0 BSK 1429 ASK

During this age, all the races of Zheng-Kitar begin to develop anew as barbaric and tribal cultures after the land was reduced a cinderous wasteland in the Age of Desolation. The last of the embers of the New Gods were stamped out by the people, now firmly united in their belief in the Spirit Kings, though they warred and fought amongst each other. Great kingdoms rose and fell during this time, and the people of Zheng Kitar flourished in a great golden age led by the living avatars of the Spirit Kings, who personally guided, shaped, and breathed new life into the new land they had awoken in with their awesome elemental power and carrying on the legacy of the High Elves who taught the people of Zheng-Kitar all they now believed in. The Age ended when the Six Spirit Kings shed their corporeality and left the material plane behind, promising to always watch over their children from the next world.

    The Spirit Kings Vanish
    Era beginning/end

Though their stay on the material plane was long, the Spirit Kings were forced to abandon their corporeal forms given to them by the Six Ancestors after they were badly damaged in their cataclysmic battle against the Witch Kings of Bhorsis-Razghul.   Leaving their children and a restored Zheng-Kitar behind, the Spirit Kings promised to forever look over those they had made and restored forevermore - but would not entrust the world to those they would leave behind.

Age of Discovery

1430 ASK 1857 ASK

A short age of growth after the loss of the Spirit Kings. A few centuries long, it was an age of relative peace and a return to the ways of balance. The Age was named for the great strides made in self-governance during this period, as each peoples learned new ways to govern themselves and survive on their own without the direct guidance of the spirit kings. The previously united countries of Zheng-Kitar fragmented significantly but remained mostly peaceful as they each figured out their place in a new world.   High Humanity and the Aurelian Hegemony of Man made contact with the continent during this time, but were greeted more as a foreign power and were driven off except for a small enclave before they could really do much there. They established a kingdom but were forced to abandon it later on due to pressure from the locals and troubles back home on corexus. Ended with the rise of the power of the six churches of the Spirit Kings into a central unified body, ruled by the legendary madman Cao Lu, a great hero-prophet that came to govern the unified six churches of the Spirit Kings and who came to lead the increasingly corrupt churches as a "Godpriest" of sorts. Specifically, ended when he willingly accepted the High Lamia into Zheng-Kitar as Agents of the Spirit Kings after they drove off the High Human Hegemony of Man, who they had seen as a menace sent by the New Gods to destroy them.

    The Aenorian Alliance
    Era beginning/end

Making a deal with the far off Aenorian Empire of the High Lamia, the up and coming Tyrant Cao Lu invited the legendarily dangerous High Lamia into his burgeoning empire as his royal guard - using them to drive off the High Human Hegemony of Man from Zheng-Kitar, tricking the High Lamia and the Princess that led them and luring them in with false promises to get them to support him in his insidious rise to power.

Age of Apostasy

1858 ASK 2669 ASK

Marked as a dark, dark time in Zheng-Kitaran history when the churches of the spirit kings were beset by overwhelming corruption, and began using the overwhelming grip the tenets of the spirit kings had on the populace to enact cruel and abusive policies on the land. During this time the mad figure Cao Lu rose to control all six churches of the spirit kings and became lord of them all, declaring the six churches to be a unified country and invading the other lands of Zheng-Kitar, soon forming a massive empire of terror where he strove to "reform the populace" through acts of wanton menace and brutality and torture.   He reigned with the High Lamia as his enforcers, acting as a mad ruler who conquered the various nations of Zheng-Kitar under the pretense of "Cleansing the rising corruption of the original spirit king beliefs", though he did so by torturing and killing the people of the land using the High Lamia. Almost everything and everyone on the continent fell under his sway during the height of his reign, and once he died of natural causes during the reign one of the High Lamia Queen's daughters was put in charge of the now conquered Zheng-Kitaran Continent.   Ended with a great rebellion led by six heroic figures who rallied the oppressed people against the High Lamia and the kingdom of the mad tyrant Cao Lu. Ended when the six martyrs found their way into her chamber and, though they were eaten by her, their sacrifice showed her the truth of Zheng-Kitaran teachings after she absorbed their memories, essentially converting her to their beliefs and showing her that the tyrant Cao Lu had been using and lying to her and her people all along to use them as convenient enforcers of his insane policies.

    The Six Hero Slaughter
    Era beginning/end

After the tyrant Cao Lu's death of natural causes, the princess of the High Lamia that he had taken on as his royal guard took over control of his empire of terror in his place and, after several failed assassinations, fended off a last-ditch effort made by the people of Zheng-Kitar to destroy her and gain their liberty and independence back.   However, it was not to be - the High Lamia Princess devoured the Six Heroes and brought a pathetic, relatively easy end to the last resistance efforts of the populace to stand against her and crushed it flat - devouring the Six Heroes and gulping them down without much effort. However, in doing so, she absorbed their memories and learned much of the people of Zheng-Kitar's beliefs...and of how she and her people were tricked by Cao Lu long ago. Having seen the truth through the memories of the heroes she devoured, the High Lamia princess had a change of heart and soon saw the errors of her ways.

Age of Cleansing

2670 ASK 2959 ASK

An age where, with the kingdom of the mad tyrant Cao Lu dissolved, the six churches were split up into their six parts once again, as laws were put into place to prevent this from happening again. The people of Zheng Kitar began to reclaim their identities and stamp out the last corrupt supporters of the mad tyrant and his reign, helped by the High Lamia who purged the same corrupt traitors from within their own ranks, as the survivors had been converted to the religion of the spirit kings. This age was a great renessaince of faith and religion, as the people discovered newfound faith in the spirit kings who had saved them from another trial at the hands of the Yema that was undoubtedly a bid to erase them and their legacies.   Much of the age was defined by the great hunts to purge the land of the last supporters of the Age of Apostasy, as well as the great wars waged on the remaining High Lamia factions who wanted to conquer everything. The High Lamia Empire fell during this age very early on, but the High Lamia here survived as they had cut off contact with the larger High Lamia empire long ago. The High Human Hegemony of man fell not long afterwards, though Zheng-Kitar was mostly unaffected.   Ended with the conquest of the last great High Lamia kingdom formed from the remaining rebel cells that still resisted the ways of the converted High Lamia, and that supported the old regime.

    Fall of the Final Holdouts
    Era beginning/end

Having seen the light of the Spirit Kings and converted herself and those of her kind willing to follow her to the faith and ways of the Spirit Kings, the High Lamia Princess, now commanding an allied coalition that aimed to wipe out the last holdouts loyal to the far off High Lamia Empire and Cao Lu's loyalists, stomped out the last bastions of loyalist resistance on Zheng-Kitar and started the foundations of a new nation where she and her people could be free.   With the destruction of these last loyalists elements to Cao Lu and High Lamia rule, the last elements and reminders of Cao Lu's tyrannical, despotic rule was over at last, and life could finally move on...

Age of Reclamation

2959 ASK 3258 ASK

A short age of a few centuries defined by the retaking of Hyeojin Island and the restoration of the two locations that still stand there. It was initially a mad scramble where many nations of the time wanted to gobble up the land there for their own usage, but a great prophet appeared and smited a vast army, declaring that the Spirit Kings wished Hyeojin Island to remain undisturbed as a memorial to all that happened long ago.   It was then a joint effort to clean up and retake much of Hyeojin island, and restoring it to its former state. It was hard, long, and rough work, but over a century or two Hyeojin Island was finally deemed off limits and an international heritage site.   The Age was also a cultural golden age for the ways of Mathematics, Culture, and "Matters of the Homefront" where national parks were founded, and all manner of teachings put in place that preached the importance of protecting the land one lives on. There was more of a focus on non-military matters, though war still happened it was toned down and many of the nations of the world became lax and complacent in the relative peace.

    Invasion of the Infernal Host
    Era beginning/end

As the boundaries between the planes thinned, the armies of the evil aligned outer planes staged a massive invasion of Zheng-Kitar as portals to those realms opened up all across the northernmost icy reaches of the Shenchuan Tundra, pouring out legions upon legions of devils, demons, daemons, and more that would organize and head south - eventually slamming into the Dwarves of Nan-Durghalihr, who would be given the unfortunate task of handling the war all on their lonesome while the rest of the world looked on in terror.

Age of Descent

3259 ASK 3513 ASK

An Age marked off by the opening of gateways to the Outer Realms of evil such as Hell, the Abyss, and Abbadon, which each began to disgorge invasion forces of primarily Daemons, but devils and demons followed soon after. An unexpected tide of evil invading outsiders swarmed over Zheng-Kitar, originating mostly from The Slumbering Frostlands. By the time the rest of the world realized they had opened, the invaders had already set up fortifications and battlements and dug in. The first victim of the demonic invasion was the Dwarves, whose cities were far up to the north in the Dholerian Mountain Range. They came under assault from the Daemon host armies first followed closely by the invading demon and devil hosts. The rest of the world, having grown lax and complacent in the peace of the prior age, was gravely unprepared to wage such a war and thus had to rely on the Dwarves to defend them.   The Dwarves waged war for decades by themselves supported by the rest of the world by means of supplies and manpower, and eventually built a device known as the Celestial Orrery which allowed them to invoke the armies of the good-aligned outer realms to bolster their fight against the unending tides of Daemons, Demons, and Devils as they had no hope of winning by themselves. Together with the armies of the Angels and Archons, who the people of Zheng-Kitar believed to be agents of the Spirit Kings, the armies of the material and celestial drove the invading armies of evil back into the frostlands and closed the gates from which they had came, breaking their citadels and scattering the few survivors.   Afterwards, it became clear the celestial armies were not agents of the Spirit Kings at all as they began a campaign to bring Zheng-Kitar into line to the faith of the New Gods. The Dwarves lost all but their capital city in the ensuing civil war, and finally the High Thane of the Dwarves sacrificed himself and the last Dwarven City to imprison the twin leaders of the celestial armies, Azaliah and Luciel, in the city as he turned the Celestial Orrery into an insidious trap.   The Age ended with the evacuation of the Dwarven Capital city, sending the Dwarves into exodus across the land to a new home on the surface, as they were forced to flee their home that now sat silent as a prison to the armies of the celestial host, and the High Thane...the Dwarves were now a people without a home.

    The Fall of Nan-Dhurgalir
    Era beginning/end

Though the armies of the Infernal Host were defeated by the marching armies of the Celestial Host summoned by the dwarves of Nan Dhurgalir, that same Celestial Host would in time turn on them - determined to wipe the last traces of the Spirit Kings faith from reality.   However, the Dwarves were not so easily defeated - and in a final, desperate effort to save themselves from destruction at the hands of the Celestial Armies, they abandoned their capital of Nan Dhurgalir and caught the remnants of the Celestial Host in a deadly trap - sealing the leaders of the Host and the remains of their armies inside the city and sealing all away forever. As a result, the Dwarves of the north became a people without a home, and began a long journey to find a new place to call their own.

Age of Conquest

3514 ASK 4201 ASK

A very long age marked by a rise in imperialism, where great empires rose and began assimilating other smaller nations around them, forming great Giga-Kingdoms that spread across the land. A time of oppression for tribal peoples and great success for civilized ones. Many kingdoms rose, many were absorbed, and many fell during this period. Many of the nations that exist in the modern day trace their roots to this Era.   Many wars between the various superpowers dominated the age, where tribal peoples struggled to maintain their independence and were pushed out of their homes by rising imperialism from all sides. The Age ended with the fall of the first and greatest Superpower of the age, the Shaoshu Empire, as it fractured and fell to a combination of infighting, corruption, and pressure from the peoples they had conquered centuries ago to form the empire. It fractured into a mess of warring states and empires that each hold some claim to the unified throne, or in some cases wish the empire to stay dead and try to keep it that way.

Age of Expansion

4202 ASK 4552 ASK

An age of a few centuries where adventure reigned, and many set out to explore the unknown and ended up founding small nations including Axiom and Sakhrad. In this age, the focus switched from rising imperialism to unity and togetherness as many powers rose up as united wholes to resist the imperialistic rise of some of the other superpowers in the world, such as the Narixian Empire and the Kingdom of Seoghar.   This was when nations such as the Unstanan Concord and the Dharan Alliance were founded and rose to prominence, driven by a desire to resist the pressure from the looming superpowers. To achieve this end, all nations were hiring adventurers to go out and clear out the vast stretches of wilderness in their names, to give them more land and power. Adventurers in the dozens and even hundreds of thousands flocked into the unknown, driven by promise of titles, land, and treasure, to clear out land and claim it in the name of their patrons.   The Age ended with the construction of the Sakhradi Canal, a monumental achievement in the name of adventure and unity that sounded throughout the world as proof small nations could resist and overcome the threat of bigger more imperialistic ones. It signaled the end of the golden age of Imperialism in Zheng-Kitar.

The Current Age, which has gone on for barely a few decades. Currently, many nations are scrambling to uncover the lost tombs of the Old Gods, as one band of adventurers stumbled upon a shard of one of the old gods' tombs and gained so much wealth and power from all that was sealed inside that they bought an entire city for themselves and now rule it as kings and queens.   More importantly, however, with the rise of a new generation that has grown up hearing the tales of the prior age, where adventure reigned and great heroes and adventurers set out into the unknown and forged new lives and countries for themselves, and now that the golden age of Imperialism has ended, many of this new generation believe that now is the time to set out to discover their fortunes and find adventure, inspired by those tales of the past Age of romanticized heroes and mercenaries who resisted imperialistic rule and furthered the cause of independence and personal freedom.   It is a time of freedom and curiosity, with many happy to set out from their homes on things they've wanted to do forever...it is a time to take a chance, to risk it all, to venture forth into the unknown...!
