Magic
What is magic?
- Magic is the WILL, desire, or INTENT, of a creature exerting it onto the Void.
- Magic REACTS to INTENT. Magic does not "just happen." There is always a purpose or spirit behind magic.
- Magic is a process of bending reality through the spirit of the bender. This process is also called: bending.
- A spell is the process. A spell is like in the instruction sheet on how to bend the Void.
- The term magic is synonymous will a spellcaster, or bender's will to enact the supernatural upon the Void.
- Magic is a bending of natural laws of nature and physics. Magic bends reality to the caster's will.
- Magic is causing the supernatural to happen within a natural world, according to a WILL of SOMETHING or SOMEONE.
- Magic's power is not sourced from anywhere in particular, it exists connected through all space and time, or the Void, infused into the essence of everything, everywhere, all at once with no beginning or end. Magic transcends space and time.
- Magic represents something "static" which exists through all space and time. It always has existed from the time of the Great Affix.
- No one has been able to travel before the time of the Great Affix, not even Edysus, God of Travel, and thus, this time is considered the beginning of Magic. Or the Magicka Source (-300 BT).
- Magic is not sentient, and possesses no thought, will, or goal. It is something that exists, like gravity.
- Every object, thought, emotion is intertwined with magic; just some have the willpower or training to bend it to their will.
- Some think this fabric was inherent from the Great Affix, since the Primordial Titans gave into creation and destruction and filled the void. Magic is often thought of the leftover remnants of the Beginning and Endings spanning through eternity, within all space and time, in all planes, in all of existence, everywhere at once, at all times.
- Magic is essentially tied to all of the Void, which is infinite.
What are spells?
- The process of casting a spell can be cast, in one, or many ways. It is not restricted by one way to cast. However, there are similarities, as the bending cannot be radically different from one caster to another. There are techniques to mask to hide these similarities from other casters.
- The process of casting a spell can be taught to one person by another in the exact same way. This process takes time to master, as a person's body, mind, and spirit must "bend" to and with the void, and the student's body thoughts, and emotion are unique, and therefore require practice to master this bending.
- Magic can be as simple to finding your house keys (even by an untrained caster), or destroying a plane of within the void, or even removing its existence (greater than Thanos' snap).
- These process of magic bendings are known as: spells or bendings
- Those who use magic spells are called: casters, spell casters, benders, or void benders.
- Some spells were gifted down by Gods to the mortal races themselves that they had learned through the centuries, during Age of Life, Death, Good and Evil. Some magic was derived directly from the Titans themselves.
- Gods still are learning bendings themselves, while they have been doing it longer, and are closer in origin to the Primordials, they possess more power to cast bendings due to that they are "closer" to magic, or the origin of the Magicka Source.
- Not all spells are known, even by the mightiest of Gods or Titans.
- Components have been used in some spells to bend the void. Some spells require these to be used to bend the void, because this is the only way it is has been discovered to complete a bending.
Is bending a gift?
- This ability comes as a gift to some, perhaps being "born" closer to the Gods, Titans, or the the remnants of the Primordial Titans.
- Those closer to "The Source" of the Great Affix are more powerful at bending, or are gifted in bending more. Therefore Titan's are considered the strongest casters, then greater deities, then deities, then lesser deities, then mortal races.
- Learning to bend comes easier to those closer to "The Source." However, through sheer willpower one can learn to bend, shaping their body, mind and spirit to the void.
- Bending is difficult when one starts, sometimes taking 100s of tries to master a basic cantrip.
- The more powerful bendings are more strenuous on the body, mind, emotion, existence, and soul of the caster.
Limitations and Costs of Bending
- Spell slots represent a casters ability to bend the void to the will of the caster
- A a void bender gains power from practice or becoming more in tune with his/her emotions and spirit they can cast more powerful spells or bend the void to their will as they master themselves.
- This power is innate to the caster. The caster can often feel their power increasing as their body syncs with bending, and the void.
- Some benders plateau, as the stress from bending is too great for their body, mind, emotion, existence, and soul to bend further, more powerful magic.
- A caster can always cast even when out of spell slots of that particular level, but the caster runs the risk of exhausting the mind or the body. The more powerful magic a caster casts above his or her spell level, risks chance of wearing the mind and body down are. Death, madness, exhaustion are not uncommon among benders, therefore many do not do it because of the risk or cost to themselves. Overcasting - House Rule
- This is why a caster needs to rest, to recover the mind and body, and re-sync to Magic.
- Review the house rules for Overcasting - House Rule.
- Bending is considered dangerous to most commoners, which is why most do not attempt it. Either they do not have the natural talent to bend, or they do, and consider it too dangerous.
