Orzammar, named after the founder of oldest house: House Aeducan(Eye-doo-can), known as Orzammar Aeducan the Tower.
Caste system
Where your birth determines your future. Castes are inherited from the same sex parent. Once born into a caste one can never leave it(ie. A smith can never be a warrior, etc.)- King: final decision maker
- Paragon: most esteemed and honored position a dwarf can earn. Most often given to dead dwarves, though there have been two cases of Living Paragons in Dwarven history
- Desher’s Assembly: made up of all the heads of the oldest standing houses, of which there are dozens
- Thane: Noble who’s title was granted by the king, owns land
- Desher: Dwarf of noble blood who belongs to one of the seven original Houses
- Shaper: Keepers of all Dwarven knowledge and history, crucial role in court cases
- Warrior caste: Made up of Second Sons from noble houses and mostly of family’s that serve the army
- Smith Caste: upper middle class, held in high esteem for their contribution to the kingdom as armorers and weapon-smiths
- Artisan Caste: any skilled worker other than Smith
- Mining Caste: lifeblood of the dwarves and the largest of the castes
- Merchant Caste: those granted permission to leave the undercity, brings in resources otherwise impossible to gain alone
- Casteless: Those born as bastards, out of wedlock, and those who went to the surface without permission or were banished from their House are branded as Casteless.
