Ru Venus

Player Character

Ru Venus was born amidst a battle for power where two clans fought for the right to rule their Southernmost island Kingdom after the last ruler died mysteriously and without an heir. The battles were ruthless and bloody, fires lit by dragons themselves burned for years to follow. After a vicious last stand, Ru’s cousin bloodily beheaded the opposing clan’s son in battle, rightfully securing his clan’s claim to the Kingdom. After this, the clan moved south towards the City Croatan. Ru was two years old.   Fast forward seven years; Ru and her parents reside in the palace and she has now spent five years being fully immersed into education– learning the history of her ancestors as they descended from the Planetouched and learned about the world outside of the Southern Isle- where the rest of the realms lie. Her tutor, Zalyvia, tells her stories of the world beyond and above, as he had traveled there 30 years before, thus igniting the fire of curiosity and exploration into Ru.   At age ten, Ru began training to be a part of her cousin’s Kingsgard- dreaming to be the protectors of the clan and the Kingdom. Her parents objected but when Ru’s cousin heard of her interest he visited personally and began training her himself. On her 18th birthday, she was sworn into the Kingsguard.   While on a mission on the outskirts of the city, Ru and 3 other guardsmen come across a conspiring camp– members in which belong to the losing clan. From what they could tell, and what the spies had already confirmed, is that they are conspiring for a takeover starting with the seduction of the king. When the camp laid down to rest, Ru and her group took out the watch, and started to pick out the rest of them who were outside a dark red tent. The camp was taken out silently, then Ru, who stood at the helm of the attack, marched in the tent and disabled the last two armed guards. She faced three female tieflings, all of which did not appear to be common-folk. She ordered the women to cover with dresses and cloaks as they will be taken to the castle prison– their plan has been foiled. The following day, Ru watched as two of the three women were executed, the last was subjected to the prisons beneath the castle– or what she called The Pit of the Nine Hells.   One day, when she offered to do her tour in the dungeons, she stopped by the most guarded cell and instructed the guards to take a break and she will be partaking in the daily “correcting” of this prisoner. They laughed, agreed, and then left. She entered the cell.   “Are you here to whip me?” She muttered, her voice sounding broken. Ru, was taken aback. But she could understand, she has been here for a year already.   “No M’lady,” Ru said, removing her helmet that covered and concealed what she looked like. A thick black braid fell over her shoulder and fly aways covered her forehead.       -----   Died in the attack of ramming two ships together.   “I didn’t know a female could be a guardsman,” she said in a horse whisper. Ru smiled and pushed a hair away.   “Technically you’re right, however,” she sighed and leaned closer. “Royal blood runs thick. You should know that right?” Terror streaked across her face. Ru leaned in.   “You look exactly like the head my cousin brought back from the final battle,” she said in a chaotic whisper. “I’d recognize those eyes anywhere.” Her face was stone cold.   “Your cousin took something so dear from me, he deserves to pay for it,” she hissed.   “He takes a lot of things from a lot of people, he’s king after all,” Ru stated.   “There are other kings in the realms that don’t take like he does,” she stood, her chains rattling. Ru didn’t back up, she maintained her ground in front of her.   “What’s your real name,” Ru asked coldly. The woman spat at her, she wiped it away with the back of her hand. “I’m not going to ask again.” her gray eyes lit up into a glowing gold.   “Nemeia.” she said in a whisper. Ru nodded and put her helmet back on, turning to leave.   “Are you going to tell them?” She asked, fear streaking through her voice.   “Why shouldn’t I? You are a traitor,” Ru said, voice hardened in the helmet.   “Because I have an offer for you,” she whispered, stepping closer. Ru scoffed.   “What could you offer me that I would even consider taking,” Ru turned. Nemia stepped closer until she was at the end of her chains, pressing up against Ru’s armor.   “I can offer you a ship, a way away from this shit hole of an island-” Ru stopped her.   “What makes you think I want to leave?” she asks.   “I’ve seen eyes like yours,” she whispered. “Eyes like yours don't deserve to be trapped on this island.” Knowing that she’ll never be able to return and will most likely be hunted.   “No one has eyes like yours,” she whispered. “There’s a bigger plot here, to destroy this entire kingdom, it will take place in three days. Dragons will come up again and burn everything and everyone down…including me.” the last part she had to gulp down. Ru felt something in those words, something deeper.   “And you were just the bait,” Ru felt something different, mercy. Nemeia sighed and laughed.   “Yes, well, I volunteered as my father is too old for fighting,” a soft smile left her lips. Something clicked immediately in Ru– this could be her way out, something she’s dreamed of since she came to this castle.   “Y’know,” she started, “I’ve always hated this place.” Nemeia looked at Ru stunned. Ru stepped closer, closing distance between them so that their words cannot be heard.   “Where is this ship,” she whispered. “It’s docked at the port,” she whispered.   “It’s docked at the port,” she whispered.   “I’ll be back in two days,” she whispered, winking at her. She turned and left.   Ru now sat on the ship, the smoke of the Castle creating clouds over the red sea. Her Kingsguard armor lying on the deck as she now dons free clothing. She finally felt free. Nemeia walked up behind her, grasped her waist and handed a dark bottle to Ru, which she took. With a deep breath Ru took a sip and watched as the towers burned.   “You trusted me without knowing my name,” Ru finally said to Nem, who laughed and pushed a stray hair behind her horn.   “I trusted your eyes,” Nemeia whispered. Ru took another sip, eyes still set on the fire, screams still ringing in her ears.   “The name is Ru Venus,” she spoke coldly.   “Is that your real name?” she asks. “Or your new alias.”   “Yes,” Ru said with a smile.
