Dwarven Runes
Whilst us Humans have dominion over most of our known world, it must be acknowledged that our harness of magic is greatly inferior to other races. Tzarina Anastasia Werba is the only human to even touch the heights of the Elven masters and the dwarves, whilst individually even less magically capable than us, are able to harness magic of great power through the forging of runes.
Amongst Iron Dwarves, apprentices will train for a century before being allowed to apply their runes. Intricately tracing the markings day after day onto stone slabs before destroying them and starting anew. Through this process dwarven runesmiths become true masters of their craft, and their runes adorn the finest made weapons, armour, war machines, engineering and mining equipment. Warding runes are carved upon hold entrances and throne room doors, runes of negation upon the beard bands of thanes and kings and smiting runes upon the hammers of priests and warriors. Master runesmiths go to battle with their greatest weapon, the rune anvil, mounted atop the shoulders of honour guard and could go toe to toe with any Elven mage. And whilst they can strike runes that would rend earth and bring lightning from the sky, their greatest power is that of unbinding others manipulation of The Weave, dispersing the magics of those that would do them harm.
