The Slayer Cult

Should a Dwarf perform any act of cowardice or dishonour they will be deemed to have brought dishonour to their ancestors and be cut off from their family name so as to not drag their noble ancestors down with them. A dwarf without a name is looked down upon by their kin and is ineligible to receive the blessing of the Ancestor Gods.
Faced with this some dwarves will choose to leave their kind, live amongst humans where their lack of proper duty is barely even understood as the deep flaw it is. These dwarves are not even considered dwarf by their kin, called Wanaz in Dwarven, an unkempt beard.
Most when faced with dishonour instead take the Slayer's Oath. They shave their hair (though never the beard) or dye it red and mark their skin with tattoos marking them as a member of the Slayer Cult. The oath dooms them to find honour only in death in combat. Only then can they reclaim their ancestor name and find their place with the gods.
Slayers have the solemn respect of their fellow dwarves and do important work slaying monsters a normal dwarf would be too sensible to tackle.
