Haven's Respite

The settlement called Haven’s Respite was the famous capital of the kingdom of Apreau that existed in a golden age of sorts when technological advancements with steam magitech were a boon to the people. With such advancements Haven’s Respite became a central hub for all kinds of industrial activity. As a city in a centralized location with an inland port all manner of merchants, trade and business was conducted there. From the mining district, to the weaver’s lane, there was nary a missing form of industry to be found in Haven’s Respite. The city built itself up from outer edges to inner sanctums. In a labyrinthine concentric rings building up, the city goes from poorer districts on the edge to the royal palace in its center.   However, this was not made to last as a devastating event took place shaking the very foundation of the kingdom. No scholar is certain what sparked the event but from that day the kingdom has been left to ruin and the famous city of Haven's Respite is now naught but a hollow figment of its former self. A twisted visage of undead, fiends and other evil creatures inhabit most of the city's remains and surrounding area.
