War of the Vile

The Conflict

Prelude

The rapid expansion of The Pravalon Empire and The Myrvan Dynasty led to minor disputes between these new colonists. At the same time, the decimation caused by the Storm of Incarnum brought on by the Twins had nearly destroyed theWéssarian Civilzation. Thus, a sort of power vacuum began to suck in all that wished to gain a major foothold in the region. Tensions began to heighten as borders were pushed or ignored, new towns were raided, and natives were pushed form their homes. In addition, the native territories of the Lythari Elves were being threatened with each passing day. And it soon came to be that the Royal Family Members of the Myrvan Dynasty sought to lie and scheme their way into the native's trust. Little did they known that the Myrvan Dynasty's plans sought to remove the Lythari and the Wéssarians. Then, as if on que, each side planned very specific attacks against various elements of the opposing sides, and all became very aware that a major war had been started

Deployment

Throughout the decades that this war spanned, several territories and islands were lost and gained, major sea battles were fought, and new horrific ways of warring were tested on unsuspecting targets. The Myrvan Dynasty occupied several key ports and towns where the Lythari and Wéssarians were located, either through a supposed truce or complete oppression. The Pravalon Empire, however, did not have many allies to rely on, and thus called for as many forces from the mainland, including the advanced technology that their founders, The Zebetian Empire, had brought with them. Thus, various airship battles were fought, in which the Pravalon Empire dominated. On the flip side, land battles that were strategically planned by the Myrvans were won quite handily.
Over time, the Lythari and the Wéssarians who, in the past, had formed a long lasting peace, came together to attempt to push these colonists and oppressors out of the Archipelago. The lies of the Myrvan Dynasty were revealed too late, however, and many of the strong towns, settlements, Thar'vens, and cities of the natives were occupied and controlled by the Dynasty and the Empire.
Nearing the end of the war, The Twisted Cutlasses were formed. They were, at first, a conglomerate of pirate-like factions with little to no organization or control. Before the war, several pirate families ruled over their respective factions, and often warred with each other. Then, with this conflict brewing across the isles, many locals, natives, and otherwise were displaced and had no where to go. Thus, The Families saw an opportunity to grow rapidly and hopefully prevent this war from sinking them into oblivion. The Twisted Cutlasses soon became a haven for all that wished to escape the war or, in many cases, to assist with the resistance against the other sides.

Battlefield

Most of the battles were fought in the sea. The Naval forces of all sides were strong enough for various armadas to meet in The Varenburg Straight or the Everfrost Ocean. The battles on land that were mainly won by the Myrvan Dynasty were seldom, yet important for the control of the major isles. Airship battles were eventually fought and dominated by The Pravalon Empire, and the other sides involved in this conflict could do little to resist such an assault.
