Session 4 Notes: Journey through the Fens
General Summary
The party arrives at Greentongue Keep, the northern gateway to the The Great Fens. They're greeted by Owein the Nose, the leader of the Greentongue Band of Clan Serpentmire, and Red Sorcha his very pregnant and highly competent wife. The pair agree to provide them with entree into the fens, but implore them to undertake a mission of mercy while they're there. Apparently the Cadwalader Tribe was stricken with a mysterious illness some weeks back and there have been lingering issues dealing with it. Owein sent a party from his band to help them, but they never arrived. This is the worst time of year to travel the fens, but he's already sent out the people from his band that had the best chance of making it - he's hoping you'll do better. The PCs make their way through the fens, paddling their canoes while the weather and terrain allowed, and dragging it through the snow and ice when it didn't. They dealt with the harsh weather and had a couple notable moments * They were approached by some mist monsters, one of whom appeared at first to be a young fen girl * They ran across some fen folk that were not from the Cadwalader tribe, but which had heard some rumors of the folk from the keep in that area and had nothing but vague rumors of badness to say of them. * While trying to break the ice ahead of the canoe, Iseult fell in and disturbed some water elementals that were nesting there. * They found another shrine about a day or so south of Greentongue Keep. It seemed comparable to the runeshrine in the forest near Fertile Crossing, but if it was located or generated another thin spot to another plane, this plane felt different than the Fertile Crossing one. Towards the end of the their sixth day of travel, the PCs were found by a couple Cadwalader scouts and brought into their camp.
