Session 6: Sloop Group - Into the Mine? Maybe not......
General Summary
The party rested after having walked through the night to track down the raiders and their hideout.
Wilward, being an elf and having slept on the horse during the journey, did not need so much rest. He decided to explore and convinced Zakila - who, for some strange reason related to his alien nature, does not need to sleep - to accompany him. Before setting off to explore, Wilward decided to play a humorous trick on the other party members! He stole the blue lotus drug from Cassandra's backpack and - moving away from the party and upwind - started a small fire. The blue lotus drug went onto the fire and began to give off a strange, sweet smell, the smoke drifting towards the sleeping party members downwind…..
Wilward and Zakila then set off in the direction of the salt mines, which the party had briefly scouted before their rest that morning. They reached the ridge of the hill and looked down on the camp in front of the mines from about 100 feet away. The camp appeared to be empty and Wilward decided to walk across the open ground towards the tents closely followed by Zakila.
It was about half-way across when the intrepid duo realised that the camp was not in fact empty. A loud explosion followed by an intense pain in his shoulder, first alerted Wilward to the fact along with several crossbow bolts. Zakila bravely sprinted towards the raider camp planning to engage the attackers. Unfortunately Wilward had other ideas and decided, on this occasion, that discretion was better than valor and rapidly retreated back towards the hill. Pausing only to pluck a crossbow bolt from the air and send it back towards the astonished attacker, striking him dead with a bolt through the left eye socket, he 'strategically withdrew'.
Zakila meanwhile found himself face-to-face with a crossbow-wielding raider with the knowledge that someone out there had a large and unpleasant gunpowder weapon! He quickly realised that the situation was not ideal and also retreated. He heard the dreaded crack of the gun and felt a sharp pain in his backside! However, he managed to limp on and escape over the hill.
