Fortune Favors the Bold Report

General Summary

After the party gathered their belongings and departed from the village of Barovia, they left Ismark behind to begin the arduous task of repairing the church, the towh and the villagers' psyches. They followed the roads west, on their way to the town of Vallaki which they hoped would prove to be a safe place for Ireena as well as a quiet place to gather their strength.   As they passed the crossroads populated with some broken and forlorn gravestones near a gallows, Thalia thought she saw herself hanging, swinging in the wind for a moment.   The came to a Vistani encampment with a large bonfire, singing, wine drinking and story telling. One of the storytellers told the story of the Mad Magician of Baratok and his battle with Strahd many years ago. One of the Vistani drinking around the fire suggests that the party go to the tent near the river and speak with Madame Eva. She had been waiting for them.   Madame Eva talks to the group as if she knows them, their names, their goals and suggests doing a reading with her Tarokka deck. The party agrees and the cards revealed are:   "This card tells history. Knowledge of the ancient will help you understand your enemy." "ten of coins (master of coins - the rogue)- I see a nest of ravens. There you will find the prize."   "This card tells of a powerful force for good and protection. a symbol of great hope" "seven of swords (hooded one)- I see a faceless god. He awaits you at the end of a long and winding road, deep in the mountains"   "This is a card of power and strength. It tells of a weapon of vengeance; a sword of sunlight" "7 of Coins—Thief -- What you seek lies at the crossroads of life and death, among the buried dead."   "This card sheds light on one who will help you greatly in the battle against darkness" "Mists (Queen of Spades) -- A Vistana wanders this land alone, searching for her mentor. She does not stay in one place for long. Seek her out at Saint Markovia’s abbey, near the mists."   "Your enemy is a creature of darkness, whose powers are beyond mortality. this card will lead you to him!" "jack of swords - executioner -- I see a dark figure on a balcony, looking down upon this tortured land with a twisted smile."   The firelight fades as the party considers their fate...
