Session 20: The Heist Report
General Summary
The group, having just finished their fight against The Dark Hand, watched as Talen took off into the crowd. Thalos attempted to follow him but eventually lost him. Thalos returned to the group and it was agreed that they would leave Talen alone if he really didn’t want to be there. A number of other small errands were run while the party awaited their evening meeting with The Brotherhood contact. Cloud visited the bakery again and Old Grey picked up his weapon from Vemi. The group made their way back to The Forked Tongue in time for dinner. Talen also eventually showed up and the party started asking questions about where he had gone and why. During the questioning a letter arrived for Ryn, which seemed to distract him from the conversation. After dinner, an individual walked into the bar, covered in dark clothing, only their eyes piercing through. Captain V and her friends left the group to talk with the person who introduced themselves as Fade. They asked what the party was doing in town and why they needed to speak with The Brotherhood. Talen started off by telling Fade they were looking for work. Fade knew this was a lie and told the group to tell the truth. Eventually, they told him that they were looking for Imoen. Fade knew of the girl and told the group that not everyone in The Brotherhood agreed with what was happening. He agreed to help the party rescue her as long as they completed a task. They needed to steal something out of a nobleman’s house. The party agreed after some negotiation and received blueprints to the house, minus the basement vault the item was located in, a time frame where the Lord and Lady would be out of the house, a schedule for the city guards that passed by and additional information about the presence of an alarm whistle that one of the household servants would have on them. The window of opportunity was the following night so the group spent the day casing the house and the neighborhood. Thalos attempted to look like a beggar and stay on the street but was removed by the local guardsmen. He faked his own death which greatly concerned them and they took him to the Temple. He revived, dropped his disguise and made his way back to the group. That night, they waited for the Lord and Lady to leave, and a guard patrol to pass before making their move. The group managed to get onto the rooftop garden and started making their way through the house. The servants were subdued, the guard dog befriended, the children put into a deep sleep and the trap door to the vault found. After a successful disarming of a trap the party slowly made their way down the steps.
