Session 12: Reflections of the Past Report

General Summary

When we last left our adventurers... The group continued the fight with the Banshee who used her unearthly wail to take down 3 of the 5 party members. Cloud and Old Grey stayed up and managed to not only defeat the Banshee (with some help from Mizzix after Old Grey healed him) but also bring back the rest of the party from death's door. A short rest later the group travelled to the topmost level of the tree. The large windows looked out onto the sky was dark with night, though the group knew that it should be showing daylight. They all noticed the intricately carved floor but only Cloud noticed that some of the sections could be moved; twisted to make a new pattern. With everyone working together they figured out how to spin the pieces to form a new pattern on the floor. Once these were in place, the darkness in the windows lifted and this weight that none of them seemed to notice before, was lifted from their shoulders. The mirror was brought up and the group rested. Then the group took both the mirror and the cabinet out of the tree. They noticed that none of the spirits or shadows were wandering around like they were before and it seemed like they had lifted whatever power was keeping them there. The group pushed on, back to Marrowstone, with Thalos carrying the cabinet as a bear while Talen and Cloud carefully carried the mirror. As they got closer to town, Old Grey noticed a large group had moved through the area earlier and as they approached, they saw Liliana and her horde of undead. The group knew they needed to get back into town somehow so they moved around to a less guarded side of the city and hatched a plan. They would use the cabinet to draw the zombies guarding that side of the city and then make a run for it, hoping that the guards would let them in. The plan worked, though the guards on the wall did not trust them 100%. Only after Arahana was sent for and vouched for them was the party trusted enough for the guards to leave them. Arahana confirmed that the mirror was a Mirror of Life Trapping and that it was full. She identified the rest of the creatures within the mirror but thought they should take it to Marshall Ridley who was now in charge of Marrowstone in all by name. The captain of the city guard had taken a large amount of money and men and fled the day before. They were now short on money and men to help with the fight against Liliana. It was good they had come as every fighter was needed. They set the mirror up in the temporary office of Marshall Ridley and began interviewing the inhabitants hoping to find something strong enough to help and willing to keep its word. Will the party stay and fight with the Azure Army in defense of Marrowstone? Will whichever creature they release from the mirror help them or hurt them?   Can they defeat Liliana?
