Session 3: Deeper and Deeper
General Summary
When we last left our adventurers... The group had travelled deeper into the ruins outside the small town of Arundel with their gnome companion, Sahanna Nosk. Gagazet and Gulldrick ran away from a giant rat and a few rat swarms that they had stumbled upon. They successfully avoided the rats and rejoined the group. Both Talen and Sahanna wanted to go check out the room with the faint glow coming from it and the group agreed. After using their tried and true trap checking method (rope attached to a maul) the group entered the room to find a small, faintly glowing green orb, sitting on a pedestal. Mizzix was the first to get close enough to hear the faint music coming from the orb. He grabbed it and then felt an undeniable urge to take the orb across the chasm and rickety rope bridge to the room across from them. He managed to make it, despite the treacherous footing and his companions trying to stop him, and opened some door to another room. A dragon fountain awaited him there with hand ready to receive the orb. He placed the orb in the hands of the dragon and a viscous red liquid poured forth and into the basin. Sahanna soon joined him, also making her way deftly across the rope bridge. Mizzix then found an inscription that read "Let there be fire" in draconic which made the liquid burst into flames, given him and Sahanna a slight singe. The orb teleported back to the pedestal and everyone was very confused as to what had just happened. Gulldrick and Talen both went to look at the orb as well and Gulldrick fell under the spell. He, however, was not as dexterous as his goblin friend and fell part way across the bridge. After some quick thinking on his part to cast an entangle spell and a few failed attempts from his party Gulldrick was pulled from the chasm. The orb, after being dropped by Gulldrick, was once again on the pedestal. After looking for any clue as to what could be going on the party moved on to the rest of the ruins. The found more undead in what appeared to be the kitchen. The zombies were easily dispatched and the group moved on through another set of double doors. This room had 4 skeletons waiting for them and a lot of ruined pillars and debris in it. After Old Grey used his divine magic to turn the dead, most of the skeletons ran away into an adjoining room. Gagazet went down in the battle but was stabilized by the cleric. After the skeletons were defeated the other room was looked at a little closer. A large black stone sarcophagus was located near the back of the room, with writing on it that no one could read. Gagazet, being the strongest, was tasked with pushing back the lid to see what was in it. A large minotaur skeleton animated and started to rise. Will the group, hurt and low on spells, being able to defeat this monster? Will Gagazet survive? Will any of them survive?
