General Summary

The fellowship learns more about the strange pair of individuals that runs the only magical shop in troll rock; The female troll Gudrun and the cursed feline Bjarn the Mousser. Both charmed and not exactly trusting the honeysweet words of the bobcat, the fellowship contemplates his offer ; to go exploring the mountainous regions to find something of value hidden down there. A suspicious offer, certainly, especially considering how close jawed the cat is about his reasons for being cursed. Junayed however, is struck by divine insight and gleams something about the truth and history of this curse;   "For having strayed off the path and failing to correct the course towards universal redemption, you are condemned"   In cowardice, it seems that Bjarn did something that could not, and perhaps should not be forgiven. But the cat is and remains a slippery one, evading the questions expertly, leaving the fellowship in the dark about his true motives.   Gudrun offers something of value though; something she was meaning to investigate which she found in possession of the druids. It was carefully wrapped in layers upon layers of shielding druidic magic, and after too eagerly opening the bundle she reconsidered her course of action and stored it in a containment field of her own devising. She offers the fellowship a chance to investigate it and they accept. A strange combination of organic samples, both animal and plant, covered in a strange white residue. After having determined that the residue is fungal in nature, Loran tries to extract his hands and tools from the containment field, only to be stoped at the last moment.   Urged by Gudrun, the fellowship moves to visit the rulers of troll rock to ask them if they would be allowed to investigate the issue. Having met there, they are greeted by an emissary of the traders of providence, who wishes to speak to the fellowship later. Entering the court the question is raised on why Troll rock should care about this investigation at all, in particular considering the sensitive topic.
