In Memoriam Report

General Summary

Traveling along with Guillaume the city arrives at the wonderous city of the undead. A city that almost should not be, yet there it stands defying logic and reason, housing the enigmatic undead. Guillaume introduces the city as "In Memoriam", the capital and city of those that remember. Before the city comes into view even though, it is hard to miss the massive structure literally towering over the treeline. What must be one of the largest, if not the largest, pre-aether structure, the imposing structure is apparently located on a separate island slightly off the main city, next to the court of the king and queen.   Under the protection of their hostage, the fellowship enters the strange city uncontested. And strange it is indeed, like the previous groups of undead, the city follows the same twisted logic and structure. A city filled with houses for a people that does not require sleep, marketplaces where goods are traded between people that all serve the same communal goals and even has a single tavern to house weary travelers that never come. Well, until now, that is. The entire city seems more akin to what a city should look like than what the undead people inhabiting it would actually need.   Releasing the honorable general from their captivity in exchange for his sworn oath that he shall relay the fellowship's requests to his sovereigns and arrange for an audience, the fellowship rents a room in the tavern. An undead bard in the tavern relays a story about the king and queen and how they found the great tower called "the spire of remembrance", but speaks not a single word outside of his lyrical verse and stagecraft. The menu also leaves much to be desired, the kitchen seems always to just have closed down for the day.   The fellowship expects to spend some time while their former hostage arranges their audience, and so they decide to explore the city. The royal island containing the royal court and the spire itself are off-limits, but its district in front of it is open to all. Many of the cities buildings seem to be imported into the city from some other location, picked up seemingly brick by brick and placed in their current location. Including grand monumental buildings that look like godseeker cathedrals, palaces and other great works of architecture now repurposed by the undead. Leaving Lara behind at the church of the forgotten, the group explores the library and reads several interesting texts there contained.   After that the group explores the surrounding areas surrounding the city, arriving at a strange mushroom grove near a shipwreck, surrounded by a military blockade of the undead military.
