Session 37: Shutting down the operation. Report
General Summary
Gingan and Ysault along with their new friend Hop took up the mission to return the young Lord Copperworth from the bandits that took him hostage. As the three prepared to leave, their gnomish friend Quatter appeared, out of breath and pockets brimming with pastries. They set out along the road, enjoying clear weather, good conversation and no trouble from the local wildlife. During the night's rest the group was approached by another Pathfinder, Aramil of the Veridian Conclave who had also heard of the Slaver problem and wanted to lend his bow to the effort. Ysault for her watch kept her eyes trained on the Steelfeather Sierra, hoping to catch a glimpse of the gargantuan creature that nests above the clouds. In the morning the Party got the drop on a group of Duskbinder's men, laying traps along the path. Gingan and Hop assumed the role of lost travellers before opening up with a scything tirade. Ysault made short work of a pair of bandits and their wolf while Aramil and Quattor dealt death from afar. Gingan and Quattor fell foul of the traps the bandits had laid while one of the slavers broke from the battle and ran, Though Ysault gave chase the man's survival instinct spurred him on and he dove in to the river. After freeing their companions the party gave chase and arrived at the Duskbinder Cave Hideout where they assaulted the bandit forces, they tore through them, Ysault's spear, Aramil's bow and Hop's Lance all cutting down bandits as they failed to recover from the Ambush. Only when Duskbinder herself held a blade to Lord Copperworth's throat did the battle stop for a moment. Gingan convinced the Dro'khari that she was surrounded. She broke open a vial of swirling darkness and concealed herself in shadows as the party closed in. Using the confusion Duskbinder attempted to flee in a blur of magically enhanced movement. Ysault and Hob landed telling blows but Aramil's arrow stuck the killing blow, leaving the slaver dead and her operation destroyed. Upon returning to Westmarch the group were handsomely rewarded and given the thanks of the Copperworth family.
