Session Twenty Two: Point Made

General Summary

Three crystal creatures emerge from the walls after Griff removes the yellow shard from the wall. They immediately start attacking the group present in the toom. Nesza and April, hearing the commotion from the “black crystal room”, rush back to help. The fight was intense. The creatures are resistant to many of the attacks thrown at them and they were hard-hitting.   Fight Highlights:

  • Vence casts Phantasmal Force on a creature, having it believe that there is a dwarf with a pick axe, chipping at it. This, in combination with Silmer’s Stunning Strike, kept the creature at bay.
  • Mia threw all types of elemental damage at the creatures, even calling one “Snowball” after she effectively made it look like “Marshmallow from Frozen”. She also found a weakness. They were vulnerable to thunder. Unfortunately, in such an enclosed space, it was difficult to use.
  • Nesza shot a couple of arrows at one of the creatures and realised they were not very effective. April also noticed that poison had no effect and she alerted the group.
  • Griff set eight wolves on one of the creatures, knocking it prone almost every round. He also himself turned into a large snake.
  • Silmer was the first to fall. At the sound of his screams, Nesza ran to help and heal him.
  • April had to face off a crystal almost completely alone. She shrunk the creature but it still managed to down her.
  • Malak helped heal up any fallen allies and sent an Eldrich Blast at the one attacking April.
  • Vence transported April to the shoulder of the crying statue and revived her.
  • When Vence left to rejoin the fray with teleport, April also came face to face with the armoured water being. Had it not been for Malak’s quick lesson in Celestial and April’s brilliant intellect, she would’ve had to fight this being by herself… in the dark… She then climed down the statue with rope as her injuries were still big.
  • Malak cast Fly on himself to keep safe. However, it was discovered that the creatures use the crystals in the room to maneuver. Meaning they can climb the walls and ceiling too. A creature moved up and took Malak down. Out cold, he slammed him into the ground.
  • All but Griff and Vence fell at least once. And Mia was nearly at death’s door, having been targeted by two creatures (whose feelings were a little hurt from her insults about their choice of footwear).
Meow Once the last creature was shattered, the group see the crystals be absorbed by the room again.   Everyone is licking their wounds, considering whether they want to press on or take a short or a long rest. Thinking that the group might need more support, Griff decides to call on Godrick. He touches the stone in his necklace and a large black griffon is summoned into the room. It flies around for a moment, landing gracefully next to Griff. It sits down regally, looks at the group and then says: “Meow”.   Griff introduces the griffon as Godrick. It turns out that Griff belongs to a cavalry regiment run by House Vadalis known as the Sky Kings. Mia recalls this regiment escorting the Tempest when it transported Aundarian troops. Nesza has also heard of the regiment. He kneels before Griff and thanks him for his service as they might have even saved his life. Griff explains that he’s not sure where Nesza was stationed but the Sky Kings were stationed in different places. So it could be that Nesza encountered one of Griff’s allies.   Nesza then tries to speak with Godrick. The griffon seems to understand him but he can’t understand the griffon (“Meow”).   The conversation goes back to deciding on what to do next. Griff asks Godrick for his opinion. Godrick laments on battles past and fallen allies. He talks about how war can spring the strangest things on you and you need to be prepared for anything. He looks at the group and sees that they are worse for wear and need time to recover. He therefore suggests a longer rest.   As Godrick gives his sagely advice, Griff nods along with “I see” and “yes you’re right”. The rest of the group hears “Meow”.   The group take a long rest in the black room (which is no longer black). Before anyone goes to sleep, Nesza shows them one last option. He has a Rope Trick that can be used if the party wishes to hide themselves. Godrick was very amused by the rope. As they have the key, they close the door and decide on who should be standing watch when.   And that’s where the session ends
