Session Eighty Six: A shadow Looms over Aerdyn

Edward awakens in Cissa's apartment to the sight of curtains, crystals, sparkling light, and frescos of stars and arrows. Amongst the frescos is a painting of Cissa and Lucy holding hands. As he stirs he finds himself in amongst many sheets of music on the floor and the smell of chamomile tea permeating the air.   Edward goes to the kitchen to find Emir making tea and simply trying to just hold it together. The pair sit together sipping tea in a relaxed quiet. Edward spends the time reading his book and finds he has words to pass along to Hal of his friend Edwyn Rich. Emir meanwhile spends time doodling a design of an eye with a heart and L U C Y written inside of it.

Session Eighty Five: Crime and Punishment

Stepping out of his home Hal meets Moonshine for the first time. It turns out he can’t understand the horse yet until they’ve bonded. The group moves to Hawkstreet 1 to be a little less conspicuous, as there are currently no other tenants there. Once there Hal asks Malak to mediate, and eventually Moonshine comes to a place where he’s ready to ‘give Hal a try’. Edward understands this to be the type of quests superheroes sometimes need to do to come into their power or realise their core bond.   So logically, everyone will be joining Hal as vigilantes for the evening.

Session Eighty Four: Up in a Blaze

While Malak is home preparing things for the evening, the rest group (with Cody and Gracy in tow) head to the Orion station to return the wagon. On the way, Cody and Grace are fascinated by Serpentor (Cody clearly moreso because it’s the first snake that he cannot communicate with). Edward mentions to Cody that Malak is likely at home so Cody rushes that way to see “dad”.

Session Eighty Two: A Crown of Gems

The purple crystal is deposited in its matching door, and we move on deeper into the cavern. With the door shut behind us we begin to hear hissing noises up ahead, so we proceed stealthily. We find another group of tiny winged cobras around the corner. Ed asks Serpentor what they’re hissing about, and he responds they’re ‘protecting’ something. He also indicates these serpents aren’t supposed to be here.

Session Eighty One: Just Mai Luck

It is exactly 12:33PM and the group is heading out. Vence asks Malak and Tristan for their help teaching him how to manage horses and to "make it go". Malak’s first lesson was advising Vence to address Moonshine by their name and to apologize for calling them "it” (amongst other things). While traveling in the wagon there is a brief discussion about Ercanus. Ed recalls The Eyes mentioning the name before in frustrated tones. A bit later Tristan asks Malak about why he doesn't like Darrak. Turns out Darrak is one of the people who refused to help Myri. Malak would have killed them for their inaction had his wife and mother not stopped him. Though, for how much he hates him he doesn't think he's working with The Eyes. Ed remarks he enjoys Malak's "calming presence."

Session Seventy Seven: Magical Secrets

In the evening after Silmer and Chantilly’s exam at the Hunter’s Guild, Vence is preparing to head out to meet up with Briar as agreed. On his way out he is briefly stopped by Tristan, who cautions him to be clear to Briar about his intentions, whatever those may be. He doesn’t want to see his friend get hurt over crossed wires. Vence assures Tristan he will be, and heads out.   He finds Briar at King’s Bridge as agreed, and she is all dressed up, even having put on heels and lipstick. As Vence is not dressed up she realises her mistaken assumption and, embarrassed, tries to leave. Vence manages to convince her not to run away by explaining a little about being limited in his ability to commit to anything serious. He also changes his outfit to match hers better. It’s enough to convince her to at least have some drinks and try some dancing.

Session Seventy Six: The Tortle and the Hare-are-gone

After a very full day everyone meets back again at the Gold Dragon inn to share tales of today's adventures.   Chantilly shares with everyone that she and Silmer had an afternoon of drinking, dancing, and drag queens and that tomorrow they will be fighting a manticore to join the Monster Hunters guild. When she explains about the "naked or wearing a leotard" requirement Malak has some doubts on the legitimacy.   The pair openly wonder about how to even fight a manticore, but none have any experience. Vence is pretty sure "you stick 'em with the pointy end" but later offers to ask Hawk for tips via sending, but Silmer declines. Silmer feels the Guild wants to see their raw skill without any equipment.

Session Seventy Two: The One with the Circus

While the group makes their preparations to go after Malak, Niklas scries on him to get a better idea of what they’re dealing with. It turns out Malak is unconscious with a sack over his head, and is in what appears to be a tented room filled with boxes that have a five headed serpent logo on them. There’s also a faintly glowing dog with him.   Tristan makes it clear he’d prefer to avoid a fight here, to which Silmer wonders if they should go for a diplomatic or sneaky approach. Edward suggests involving Gislea, as she might be able to help since it’s her family. So the group (including Taliashanna and Niklas) move to the Last Lantern. Gislea and Piesk are however not there, so the group moves on towards the circus (using the information on the poster that they collected).

Session Seventy One: Sons and Fathers

Tristan Is exhausted from not being able to sleep after his nightmare.   At breakfast, Vence points out Tristan’s hair is white, there is a streak of white across his scalp, Tristan and Edward are unaware of the reason why. Edward wonders if Grace did something with magic. After a short examination Tristan seems healthy, just tired.   Tristan tells everyone about his “Visions”. This prompts Chantilly to also say that she has been seeing things. Edward does another check, but can’t seem to find anything.   Vence theorizes a connection to our silent fane experiences, Chantilly chimes in that she has been seeing these “visions” on the bridge. Tristan then talks about Lucy and then sees her wave a hand in front of his face for a second, this stuns Tristan for a brief moment. After a quick mention that Lucy is here, Vence announces that he will go grab 'Crystallini', and goes upstairs to pick up his instrument.   Edward and Chantilly then get an explanation who Lucy is and why she is always around. Chantilly introduces herself to the seemingly empty room and says hi to Lucy.

Session Sixty Eight: A very offensive birthday party

The group arrives at Cissa's apartment in good cheer. Upon surveying the room Emir quips that Ari has finally eaten Tristan, Grace merely comments "not yet." Edwards lets them all know he has brought snacks. Cody exclaims with glee he wants to throw a surprise party for Tristan's birthday. Which is also a "surprise" party for the rest as Tristan never told them. Grace remains uncertain of the idea but doesn't put a stop to it.   While Emir tries to ascertain how "big" they're to go Edward explains Karnathi birthday customs from a reputable "published journalist". The party doesn't know yet, but it turns out Edward's information is sourced from comic books of 'The Panic' (the Sharn version of 1960s Batman). Emir is not on board and explains that this isn't actually traditional but Edward's mind couldn't be changed. Emir suggests "Karnathi milk" as the drink to be served (as he suspects Tristan will need a drink to handle the evening).

As Vence casts Sending, the halfling, Genti, weakly crawls over to the pincushion that is Malak.     "You're in a right state. Let me help you."   He uses Channel Divinity to Preserve Life. As he does so, the group can just make out a blue glow coming from a mark on his neck that has been hidden beneath the grime, dirt and blood of his unwashed body. It's at that moment that Vence has completed his second message to Ethan and Kiasuh walks into the garden. Malak promptly heals himself. Kiasuh wordlessly tries to push Genti aside but he stands surprisingly firm, a rehearsed sounding script escapes his lips: "Madam, I understand you wish to approach him. But you need to allow me to do my job and heal him first"   "I beg your pardon d'Jorasco! I work in the ER! Get away from husband RIGHT NOW." Genti turns around and falls over at the sight of Kiasuh. It is thirty minutes before the fireworks and you all are a strange mixture of emotionally exhausted and wide awake. Tristan, April and Silmer are making their way to the Ishim residence while Malak is being comforted in the arms of his wife.   Meanwhile, Thaen, Griff and Nesza set out to explore Hawk's house. You walk down the dark hallway. Your shoes echo on the stone tiles and there is a heavy scent of dust in the air. At the end of the hallway is another door.   When you open the door, you are greeted with the fresh air of the warm spring evening. You are in a rectangular courtyard. It might have been grand a few decades ago. But whatever paint was on the doors and frescos against the walls have long since faded. The corners have gathered years debris. At the centre of this cobblestoned area is a dried up four feet high water feature made entirely of glass. The glass is fashoined into what seems to be a pile of stones. Strangely, the glass seems almost as if it was cleaned recently as it does not seem dull or dirty from the years of abandonment. It's practically gleaming in the light of the many moons. Thaen, the moment you see it, you recognise it to look very similar to the stone piled shrine to the traveler.

Session Thirty: The Princess Bird

It's early evening and the scent of the blue flowers fills the air as Malak approaches the stately home of the Veiled Ones. As is common practice during Solaris, the large double oak doors are open and there are a few people going inside. The entrance way is vast. Its white marbled floor spreads out to three large doors and two winding staircases upwards. The area is brightly lit by a huge crystal chandelier and some light fixtures against the wall. The floor also has a large silver arrow insignia right below the chandelier.   Currently, the room also decorated in long white drapery tied from the chandelier to the edges of the ceiling. It is of the finest linen and embroided in blue flowers that match the bouquets of blue flowers in very expensive looking crystal vases placed on every flat surface. The people filing in are being ushered to an area in the Eastern Wing, that Malak knows to be the dining area. He can already make out the alluring aroma of spices and grilled meat.   The usher at the door recognizes Malak and gestures to the staircase. "She's in her room", he murmurs as he returns to ushering people.   Malak wanders up the stairs and down the familiar hallway and stops at a large dark wood door, ornately decorated in silver. Session Twenty Four: Eggonomics

The last rays of sunlight shine between the trees, the shade cast creating a dimlight. On deck of the Nereid, Nesza, Vence and Myri are hiding behind some barrels and crates.   Upon arriving on deck, you had picked up on some words that sounded distinctly Elven. However, as you listen more closely, you notice that you can’t immediately understand what is being said.   You hear men and women chat amongst each other. The tone sounds relaxed, if not slightly cheerful. You then hear a loud splash coming from the far side of the lake and a child’s voice yelling the common word “SHARK!” The others murmur in a dismissive tone.   What happens next?

Session Twenty Three: The Opalescent Shard

After an almost deadly battle, the group settle down in the “Black Room” (that is no longer black) to lick their wounds.   There are still four crystals to be collected, one of which the group knows the location of.   The group has no concept of what time it is. Or if there’s anything still wondering the halls, ready to attack.

Session Twenty Two: Point Made

You had just removed the yellow crystal. The room with the teleportation circle is still illuminated by it. But from within the walls, three large crystal creatures emerged. Tall crystal beings tower above you. A short body and face with no neck, consisting of jagged shards for teeth and orbs glowing within for eyes.   Each has a unique set of crystals growing on their heads and back. Their legs are long and form a sharp point where feet would usually be. They are slightly hunched over, leaning on their, staff-like arms, that also end in a sharp, needle-point end.   Roll for initiative.

It’s sundown. An eventful day has passed for you all.   As the group slowly get ready for dinner, Nesza waits in the reception area near Molly. For the past while, Molly has reminded a somewhat spaced-out Nesza that his appointment is at sundown.   With no response imminent and the time finally up, she says: “Nesza Greenthorn, it’s time for your appointment.”

Session Fourteen: Standing up

It’s mid-afternoon as the “Silver Bird” nestles lightly onto the airship dock within the Arcanix University campus. Far below you, beyond the base of the glistening crystal tower that is the Spire of Knowledge, lies the beautiful town of Fairhaven.   As you disembark, you see a familiar elf and royal guards man that you don’t know. Cissa looks tired. She smiles as you approach but the smile isn’t reaching her eyes.

Session Thirteen: Watch out for that Skyberg

You agreed with Conrad to board the “Silver Bird” and head back to Fairhaven to rest up, resupply and strategise.   You have taken Melissa Greywater with you. Still bound, she has been placed in the sickbay, under the watch of a buff half-elf.   As the airship rises, you get your first actual birds-eye view of Windshire in the warm afternoon sun. In the East, you see a lazy river winding in down to lake Galifar. There are lush forests as far as the eye can see. There are charred or scarred remains of what used to be beautiful rustic manors framed by vineyards and other crops. You see light being reflected off of armour from countless soldiers in the town and on the road. A harsh reality that you need to leave behind.   George, who had remained on the airship, seems to be fitting in very well with the crew. Tatalla has been assigning him all sorts of heavy lifting tasks and she seems very pleased with how he has completed.   Not reading the room, he greets Nesza with a massive hug.

Session Twelve: This was not what I signed up for

After some much needed rest, you awake to a world that is upside down. The sky is dark. The campfire crackles and casts long shadows against the walls of Jenny‘s brambles. Everyone’s accounted for and healed up.   But you’re no longer alone. Some 14 new people are within the confinement of the brambles. Many of them are alarmed-looking Sicklemen.   In less than a day’s time, troops will arrive. But in that time, what would you do?

Session Eleven: The forest is a shady place

You have left the mists of Windshire and are now camping in the woods. It’s mid-afternoon but you are all exhausted from the day’s events.   Four new companions are now in the group:   The voluptuous widow and barkeep, Carey Palethorn The quiet, greasy-haired Dan The druid, Jenny, who has ties with both the Wardens of the Woods and House Lyrandar April’s Dad and famous wine maker, Ethan Highthorn This rest is well deserved. But for every minute you remain away from Windshire, many lives might be lost.

Session Ten: A mist opportunity

After a mini siege on the “Water of Life” tavern, the members of the group are licking their wounds. During your battle, the morning rain had stopped. The air outside is now clammy as a low lying cloud is passing over the town.   A few Filthy Orcs have been downed and some nerves are being calmed. You are all hoping for a calm before the next storm.

Session Nine: Under new management… nearly

After a vicious battle with multiple Sicklemen, part of the group are in the “Water of Life” tavern, getting ready for their next move. Malak has disguised himself as Captain Johnathan Small Fry and is about to head out the door.   Corvus had alerted Silmer of the situation and he and April have made their way to Windshire. At this current moment, they are nearing the House Sivis station.   We’re starting the session with April and Silmer. You are about to emerge from the forest area near the House Sivis station. What do you do?

Session Eight: That time Malak and Mia agreed…to murder!

After a day’s journey, you have been dropped in a small clearing about an hour’s walk from Windshire. Unless communicated otherwise, you have agreed with Tatalla to meet with the “Silverbird” again in the same spot after sundown two days time.   Unlike in Fairhaven and Passage, the sky here is cloudy and spring showers cool the air. The ground is wet and muddy. It’s clear House Lyrander hasn’t been around to control the rains. For Aundair, this rain seems unnaturally… natural.

Session Seven: That time Malak agreed with Mia

You’ve set sail on the “Silverbird”. Tatalla has given the wheel to her first mate, JinJin and has taken you all down to the Navigation Room.   While descending, you could see Jules’ electricity ring through the window, vertically encircling the the body of ship and illuminating the darkening sky.   April has drawn out a basic map of Windshire and you are now starting to strategise your next move.

Session Six: Up in the air… in more ways than one!

The sun rises on your final day in Fairhaven. At sundown, the “Silverbird” will set sail to Windshire. It is prudent today to prepare and be at the ship on time.   At the palace, a room has been made available to you with items from the armory. But before you can head there, one person is still not present; April.

Session Five: All this and still no airship!

With the mission request from Wrogar fresh in your minds and the revelation that one of the party is, in fact, a Godfried, you enter the stately home of Juliona.   She ushers you to a large sitting room. There is a large red Sarlonan rug spread over the dark wood floor. Two three-seat couches and an armchair frame the rug’s outline.   You can barely see the walls as they are filled floor to ceiling with wooden shelves stuffed with books and artifacts from different cultures.   Juliona gestures you all to sit and asks if any of you want some tea and biscuits. You notice that, although she expressed interest in some of you when you entered, her eyes are now just flitting between April and Mia.

Session Four: Good Godfried!

It’s late in the evening and you are all standing in front of the Glasshouse. Vence has just collected his dues and the portcullis lowers behind him as he rejoins the group. The sun has set but the cobble stone streets are illuminated in a yellow light from the Everbright crystals.   There are people everywhere and most buildings that connect the Service and Trade districts are open. Ateliers are displaying fashions beyond comprehension. Colourful pastries and cakes with shimmering glazes, sparkle in bakery windows. Everywhere there are charming cafes and small but decadent eateries.   Down the boulevard you can see the Garden of Thought, and within it, the star shaped crystal Spire of Knowledge, emitting a gentle glow of whites, pinks, blues and purples. It’s no surprise why this city’s nickname is “the City of a Thousand Lights”.   You have an important task ahead of your tomorrow. But the night is still young. What would you like to do?

Session Three: Oh My Godfried

The sun rises on another beautiful day as the train races through the countryside of Aundair. It goes around a large hill where the other side reveals a beautiful city in the distance. High limestone walls encircle a sprawling space with red-roofed buildings and glistening glass domes.   Four elegant towers of brilliant white and stained glass stand at the four corners of the city. In the heart of the city, a humongous star-shaped crystal spire slices high into the heavens. It casts the red, orange and gold reflections of the dawn sun.   From the tip of the crystal spire, you see a purple ray of light shooting into the clouds above it. Into the buildings that you can just about make out within these clouds….   The train approaches the wall and goes through a tunnel. You feel the train decelerate and eventually come to a complete stop at a station made of of wrought iron and glass.   Outside, you see a large, ivory coloured platform, covered in guards. Amoungst them, you see Jossac. Her griffon standing by her side.

Session Two: Jamie the Escapee

On a warm Spring night, somewhere between Passage and Fairhaven, stands a stranded Lightning Rail train. No longer hovering, its elemental ring dissipated.   Everbright Lanterns have been placed in the Bar car. A few patrons are sitting around, unable to sleep. Although Oglaf the bartender has stopped officially serving, the drinks are still flowing. People are trying to drink away the memory of what transpired earlier that day. It's starting to feel more like a tavern than a high-end train car. A bard has even taken out his lute and is strumming some chords absentmindedly.   Muffled voices and snores can be heard in the other two cars. Emergency blankets and pillows have been given to all but quite a few people are terrified of what just happened and are clinging to each other.   From the outside, the train looks like a fat glow worm. The 12 moons illuminate the sky in varying sizes and states of cycle. Now all you can do is wait until the train is fixed.

Session One: Idiots on a Train

For one reason or another, you have found yourselves on the Lightning Rail.   It departed from Passage 15 minutes ago and is smoothly hovering over the conductor-stoned tracks towards Fairhaven.   In this session:

  • Nesza, George, Malak, Corvus, Mia, April and Silmer encounter each other on the train
  • A man throws a vial in the train compartment, causing a a hazy cloud to spread into the compartment and knock people out. Some later "wake up" in a feral state
  • The group figure out that "taraxacum" (dandelions) and Mai Yasha wine stops people from "turning", they get rid of the cloud and capture the man
  • They learn that the cloud is called "The Spore"
  • The group learn that the man's name is Jamie and he has a Sicklemark on his lower left arm, branding him as a Sickleman
