Session 15: Rocking off with a Rakshasa! Report

General Summary

14th of Roelir Continued   The group does a battle with the Rakshasa.

  • Reign is dominated and works against the group until she is able to throw off the spell with inspiration from one of her allies.
  • Karl works with Lily to help the real Lady Sasha as Lily removes the deafness from the Lady.
  • Fargrim buys the group time as he forces the Rakshasa to FLEE!
  • Karl contacts many allies seeking help.
  • Lily blocks the Rakshasa's attempts to get into the kitchen.
  • Lyra backs up the group after arriving.
Once the creature is defeated, Xeldarix forces Lyra back from the creature. Reign and Lily jump in to examine it only for it to explode in their faces.   Shortly after things start to calm the High Paladin Salma appears and seems to have detected Xeldarix for what she is and goes to attack her. Karl and Fargrim intervene, convincing Salma with the help of the others that there is more going on here then meets the eye. After revealing Xeldarix speaks Celestial, Salma and her have a chat in that language and for now Salma stays her weapon. She tells Fargrim she wants to talk to him about this tomorrow as she has much to consider and research.   Then as this is resolved Steve runs in looking for the fight. Everyone is quick to reassure him the fight is over   Reign disappears upstairs with Lady Sasha, Mary and Salma.   Not long after this the remaining Masters from the Mage Guild come running in. In the end they go downstairs to start working on the basement dangers only learning of Lady Sasha's needs after they are exhausted for the day.   The party takes a short rest. They discuss possible plans for the party and talk to the variety of different people in the house. After this the group splits up. Fargrim and Reign stay to have a heart to heart while awaiting the letter Lady Sasha was writing. Meanwhile Lily, Lyra and Xeldarix escort Karl to the mage guild before going shopping.   Lily, Lyra and Xeldarix
  • After selling some gems, they start making their way through the city but don't get far before they spotted their tail.
  • They confronted their tail to find it was Fullman and two priests.
  • A battle started and ended with Xeldarix unconscious due to a necklace, Fullman dead and the other two priests unconscious.
  • They left to go to the Mage Guild for help, taking Xeldarix with them.

  • Wellmore identifies the necklace and shares some of what it can do.
  • Lily and Lyra leave to get new lock picks, learning some new information relating to Simone
  • Lily sends two animal messages. One to Galloway and later one to Fargrim.
  • They unlock it upon their return, waking Xeldarix up
  • They decide to take a short rest before Lily and Lyra leave
  • Xeldarix stays downstairs for a nap.
  • Karl continues to work hard on his new spell
Fargrim and Reign
  • Once they collected the statement from Lady Sasha and leave her to rest, they head towards Galloway's office.
  • Galloway reveals he got a message from Lily explaining that someone had attacked them but had to take someone for medical assistance.
  • Galloway asks that should Reign or Fargrim see Lily to send her here to give a statement.
  • Looking at the letter together they see that the evidence against Dread is circumstantial and more is needed to do anything.
  • They learn about Gwenifier Hart, the witch hunter that Galloway knows of from the list of names from the tattoo drawing Lily provided.
  • Fargrim receives an animal messenger from Lily explaining that an alchemist named Levi is at the Golden Tankard. He is the private consultant for the Dread family.
  • The pair leave for the inn which is near the Mage Guild.
  • They talk to one of the people running the bar and order some food and drink before Lily and Lyra arrive.

  • Lily also orders food before filling out a request to see a guest.
  • Lyra and Lily follow the bartender (Peter) up.
  • Lily sneaks into Levi's room, stealing some vials and his book from his study.
  • Lyra talks to Peter and in the end gets invited into Levi's room for a chat.
  • Lily is also brought up to talk to him.
  • Reign gets a tour of the inn.
  • The group leaves together to go see Galloway.
  • Lily and Lyra give witness statements.
  • The group goes to the Mage's Guild to get vials identified.
  • Steve looks into the vials. However, upon testing the final one he falls unconscious.
  • Lily wakes Xeldarix up from a nightmare and she joins the group to tell them more about the poisons.
  • Vial 1 (Arthorvin): Made from plants. If given to someone mentally ill it can cure them unless they have been mentally ill for too long. Then it just treats their symptoms. It makes them seem to be mentally more healthy then they really are.
  • Vial 2 (Ralayan's Comfort): A substance that gives hallucinations and causes the user to become very calm and lack energy. Used if the person is a danger to themselves or those around them. Can cause more mental damage on overdose. Has abyssal components in it.
  • Vial 3 (Srindym): A poison that causes the victim to feel very drunk before they fall unconscious. It has Elf blood as one of the ingredients. It has short term immunity after being affected.
  • Xeldarix goes upstairs to attempt to forge Reign an invite while sitting with Karl.
  • Everyone else goes to stake out the park and the party.
Karl
  • Upon leaving Wellmore's office he misty steps into Shyr's office, sending Xeldarix into a rage at his disappearance. He collects a letter before going out to try and calm Xeldarix down.
  • He tries to read the paper but it's blank.
  • They go to the park to join up with everyone else.
At the park Lily uses her abilities to eventually become a spider to go into Karl's pocket after having given the Eye to Karl. Reign goes with Karl to try and talk her way into the party. Lyra, Fargrim and Xeldarix hold their position in the park.   With a little bit of help from Simone, they are both permitted in. She gives them a tour of the house before dropping Lily off at her Uncle's study. Then taking Reign and Karl up to her room in the attic where she grabs her small bag. Karl looks through the Eye to see spirits everywhere and Simone reacting to them constantly.   They go back downstairs where Simone gets Reign to stay on top of the rooftop garden as to not be seen.   Karl and Simone join Galloway for the entree section of the meal.   Meanwhile Lily explores the study, following spider ink footprints to find a key. A bit more investigating finds a safe. A failed attempt at opening the safe alerts Dread to her presence. He comes running, but she hides. He tightens security before going to look for his niece.   At the point a spirit approaches Simone while Karl watches on through the Eye. She tells him about a spider and his friends, he summons his familiar and sends it with a note to the people in the party. But the time he looks up he sees Simone is gone. Dread approaches Karl to demand the location of his niece but Karl is unable to provide the information. Someone spills a drink on Karl and he starts to feel very drunk.   Simone goes to tell Reign that she needs to leave now. Reign does so before security is fully tightened and her presence is noticed.   Upon returning to find Karl poisoned, Simone drags him off to a secret door in the public library of the house. He manages to message Galloway to inform him that something is wrong, and that he (Karl) is in danger. Unfortunately they do not get much further before Karl loses consciousness.   Outside a demonic Drider with Holly as the torso and head is chasing Dill. Xeldarix reveals that Holly is a demon and Dill reveals his true colours by turning on the party.   At the end of the fight Xeldarix is badly hurt, Lyra is furious at Dill for harming Good and the party is watching Holly's body smoke as it starts to dissolve.
