Session 4: Shattered Expectations Report

General Summary

The Northlands Expeditionary force, went with Orion Stormbringer back to Port Asinis. Lydia Hargreave convinced Orion to teach her a new spell, which Orion did, but along with a nearly 4 1/2 hour lecture about magic, the plane of fire and proper technique for writing arcane runes. The group set off the next morning from Port Asinis with the help of Brand Ordo's new Snowhopper mounts (Tontons). The rode the new animals to an icy chasm where wizards and other researchers have disappeared. After arriving, they were ambushed by Wights riding Frost Spiders and a small contigent of undead. The group was fairing well against them and Biri scattered the undead with Turn Undead.   After the fight, the group discovered a wizard's body and a note he had written. The deceased, Alastair Pelbottom, wrote about ley lines in the Northlands possibly being affected by a magical artifact, the 'Throne'. The followed the cave down further into the Underdark for awhile. Further into the cave, they encountered a Dark Elf, coughing and on the verge of death. He had a black iron chest that he unlocked for them and handed them the amulet within. Immediately afterwards, he started coughing more uncontrollably and his body froze, shattering in the process.
