Session 19 & 20: Abominable Snow and the Frost Bites Report
General Summary
The group heads towards Targos and meets the town speaker, Naerth. There they learn a Yeti terrorizing the Kelvin's Cairn. The speaker hires them to retrieve a group that last went up there and any remains they might be able to find. He offers an additional reward of 100 gold pieces for each pair of Yeti horns that they procure during their travels up the cairn. The group once again gets a sled ride from Jonesy, to the base camp at the bottom of the mountain. At the base camp they meet Garret and his two companions who are looking to climb the cairn in hopes of finding treasure. After some time conversing with them at the camp, the two groups decide to climb up together in order to increase their chances of success. As they climb Kelvin's Cairn, the group survives dangerous weather, slippery climbing conditions and an avalanche that nearly pulls them off the top of the mountain. After narrowly avoiding an encounter with a group of mountain goats, the group happens upon a cave, that is settled a bit before the climb to the peak. As they inspect the entrance they find remains of humanoids, blood and scattered clothes around the entrance. The group heads downwards into the cave in search for any survivors. Arvid and Garret discover that the cave traverses down and into a small living area. As they stealth forward, they see that a yeti tike is batting around a small halfing like a plaything and the remains of a male goliath are scattered about the cave. The mother yeti watches on as her child plays. Lydia decides to choose the nuclear option and fireball the yetis, spellshaping the blast around the halfing, Biri as she charges in and the goliath's torso. The group makes quick work of the two yeti's and gathers their horns. The group learns from the halfing, Perilou, there is a third, larger yeti that is the father of the family. The group sets up an ambush waiting for the yeti to come back and takes care of him just as quick as the first two. Perilou informs the party that a few other members of her group fled up the mountain from the yetis when they initially encountered them. The group makes the final march up to the peak to find two bodies. One of a female tiefling and the lower half of a dwarf. Lydia finds an old tome still filled with spells and a few pieces of gold. After the group realizes they are done with their task, Lydia uses polymorph to transform Arvid into a giant eagle and he proceeds to carry the group down from the mountain, making a few trips with the rest of Lydia's spell slots. As they arrive back in at the base camp, Reilly, Jonesy's business partner, is waiting for them to give them a ride back to Targos. The group decides to take a short rest and while they do Garrett talks to them about local rumors that have been going around local taverns. He tells them about how bandits and other groups are searching for a tower that is buried in the tundra from hundreds of years ago. Garret additionally informs them of that the local duergar seem to be active and have a fortress built into the Spine mountain range. Afterwards, the group rides back to Targos as they feel a sense of relief wash over them. When they arrive back in Targos, Naerth rewards them with 500 gold pieces and sets them up with a room for the night.

Garret informs them of a hidden tower buried beneath the tundra and says that the Duergar might actually be the best source of information on finding things that are buried.
