Session 18: Purchase of a home

General Summary

As they came out of the mountain that housed the fortress of Err’Haldur, the party realised that they had to move out before the dragons and kobolds realised their hatchery had been robbed. They moved as fast as they could for almost an hour until they approached the cave by which they had left their horses earlier that morning. But as they approached they turned back to see three large red dragons come out of the fortress and take off to scour the land. Realising their danger since they had over a day’s travel back to Worms Burial, they instead opted to hide out in the cave until the worst had passed. With some flaps of her wings, Heiwa brought the entrance down behind them, hiding the cave from any who would search for them. Just a few hours later they heard marching outside the cave. As they peeked through a tiny breathing vent they saw units of kobolds searching all over for any sign of them.   The party spent another day waiting for the search parties to disperse before they ventured out to scout. Nacklenook was the first to be sent out, and he saw that despite the fact that most kobolds seemed to have disappeared, there were still dragons flying around. They decided to wait for the cover of night before leaving. During that time they noticed how the dragons seemed to take shifts and they also saw how at one time two dragons left Err’Haldur, but only one retured.   Deciding that it would be too risky to return to Worms Burial, and also fearing that it might have been attacked, they instead opted to travel south along the mountains directly to Morheim. And so they did. Being careful not to leave too many traces of themselves they managed to move unhindered across the land to the provincial capital.   Back in Morheim they noticed that the Iron Circle had put up wanted posters for Mikum, who now had to be more careful. They got some rooms at the Red Teeth Tavern once again. During the night Nacklenook set out to find out what they could get for the eggs on the black market. The next day the went to the Exotic Saddler again to find out his offer. After some negotiations they reached a settlement where they would receive a hippogryph each for the wyvern eggs, a luxurious wagon for the drake eggs, and they would then pay the difference for the enchantment on said wagon.   After selling all but one of the salamander eggs they had more than enough gold for this venture. They spent the rest of the day shopping around and the very next morning they returned to the Exotic Saddler to fetch their new mode of transportation. What they got could shortly be described as modern day caravan with room for seating on the roof and plenty of baggage area in the back. It was drawn by the four hippogryphs and had six beds, a couch-like dining area, and some wardrobes inside. The levitating enchantment that allowed it to fly was controlled by a lever in the drivers seat. They preliminarily named this vessel The Mourningstar, and on it they set out towards the imperial capital on the other side of the country.
