Session 20: Between a rock Report

General Summary

Travelling to the base of the Fulgrim mountains, the Party performed their ruse. As Felix setup camp in the daylight as a lone child, who seemed to split from his group, to be followed by them, but then be abandoned by them, and Violet morphed into her peregrine form to first explore the mountains before returning to perch nearby as protection, the rest of the Party wandered about confusingly, while expecting eyes to be watching them from the mountains, until they settled onto an adjacent hilltop for the evening.
As dusk turned to night, a chill mist descended from the mountain peaks to shroud the area in an eerie fog that seeped to the bones of those not warmed by fire. Despite realizing that multiple nights of this kind of exposure may detrimental, those on the adjacent hill braved the conditions. As the night wore on, through the upper mists, the Party was able eye a faint light, rumoured to identify the witches location. As Lunafreya rested quickly and took up guard in a valley between the two hills, they all waited and waited until sleep began to take them one by one, but nothing would occur that evening.
In the morning as the Party reconvened and decided to face the witches head on in the day when they’re rumoured to be at their weakest, the seemingly afflicted Groft felt a tingling in his orc whiskers as if the mountain’s looming presence had turned its attention towards him.
The Party made its way up the mountain following an easily traversable path scouted by peregrine Violet, but as she led they way she was unable to spot the creature lying low in the grass near the cave of their destination until it was too late. As she saw the golden beady eyes lock on her, her body stiffened and she fell to the ground. The creature was quickly upon her ready to drag her away when the rest of the Party arrived. Seeing a slightly different coloured version of the creature they first saw as the Jarl’s pet days ago, the Party charged in to realize that the creatures petrifying gaze began to affect them in turn as well.
Keeping their distance and averting their eyes, they would eventually kill the creature with little harm to themselves except for Groft at the edge of fully becoming stone.
Felix would examine the creature and collect samples before finding that the creature was guarding a set of eggs beneath it which he would gather and stow away. Groft began to butcher it as a delicacy and as Jun calls out for the group to gather themselves to enter the nearby cave a strange metal squeaking sound progressively getting louder would disturb their celebratory mood.
As the Party readied themselves and watched in anticipation, a set of strange child toys would emerge. A faceless clay-formed baby doll, a pigtailed hay-bale rag doll, and a stuffed half-monkey with a half-unicycle lower body.
