Breakfast at Eight Report

General Summary

The journey begins in Day’s End Inn, Argen’s Bridge where Rauri and ‘Smirker’ Coy are surprised to see familiar faces. Mama Hopkins gives them breakfast and briefs them on their task to get the New Dawn’s trust.    They are to get an old man named Cornelius and his granddaughter Coraline out of the town and to Redblood Valley. Cornelius explains that he can’t be seen even leaving the town and keeps mostly to himself.  Rauri and Coy swiftly take care of their problem of getting silently out of town. They know of Billywik’s reputation as a man of many means. He if anyone can get a person unseen out of the city. For a price.    Billywik is a fair gnome and makes a deal with the duo. He will take Cornelius out of town and deliver him to a spot a few kilometres west from Argen’s Bridge if Rauri and Coy deliver a letter for him and pay 230gp or come to do a job for him six months. He is very clear that he will get bounty hunters on their tail if the boys decide to make a disappearance act. He recommends against that. Billywik isn’t a man one wants to cross.    The journey on Long road begins easy. Rauri has never been outside the city walls and there is a lot to see outside. The roads are notoriously dangerous and soon they will have first hand experience on just how dangerous, exactly.    Rauri, Coy, and Cornelius with his granddaughter travel on Coy’s cart when they see something in front of them. A vulture a lot larger than usual is circulating something in front of them. It is a dangerous situation but the animals have no death wish. They soon leave the group alone but before they safely travel away from the Long Road, one of the vultures get one too many swipes at Rauri who loses consciousness and would bleed out on the cart if not for Coy’s swift actions and the assistance of Cornelius who seems to have rudimentary medical knowledge.    It takes the group a while to find a road back to the Long Road and they decide to camp out there instead of seeking shelter from any of the communities that might be there. It is safer that way for Cornelius.    In the middle of the night when Coy is on the watch, a black caravan rushes quietly past them. It is a strange sight to see in the middle of the night and leaves Coy puzzled but there is nothing they can really do about it.    The next days are just as eventful as the first day of travel as they get nearer the border between Lord’s Vale and the Burrows where the letter needs to be delivered.    On an afternoon, the group is ambushed by a group of mercenaries looking to take Digger and the cart if the group has nothing better to offer. Coy takes advantage of the bandit leader’s arrogance and challenges him to a duel.    The Smirker steps on the stage. He is just as good out of the ring as he is in it.    Rauri gives help from the sidelines distracting the bandit leader with his cutting remarks. The group is more intimidating prey than the bandits imagined and with slight deceiving and good luck the group get to continue their journey mostly unscathed.    Next leg of their journey leads them to the Burrows, a network of caverns and holes on the ground.
