Returning to Castle Calaelen Report
General Summary
The Furry Ballsacks returned to Castle Calaelen to eliminate the threat to travellers on the Old Road; and if some treasure happened to fall into their pockets, so be it. After recovering at Zelkor's Outpost, they ventured back to the castle. While passing by the ancient statue of Orcus, Christoff made sure to throw a rock or two at the old goat himself. As they approached Castle Calaelen, the Furry Ballsacks noticed a lone goblin sentry on top of the westernmost tower of the castle. Kronryn Arabar sent an arrow through its throat, killing it silently and instantly, allowing the party to proceed into the castle through the 'back door' they'd established earlier. Exploring the upper level of the castle, they found that it had been largely evacuted by the goblins. Christoff sprinkled a vial of holy water on the statue and altar of Orcus that Jedra the Blue Goblin had created. Nothing happened, but the hair on Christoff's neck went up and he had a feeling of someone's displeasure wash over him. The party discovered a few curiosities: a four person canoe suspended from the ceiling that housed a 4 ft diameter spider, an ancient journal of the last surviving member of the Calaelen family, and some delicious treasure to whet their appetites for what could be found deeper in the castle. After exploring the upper levels they descended to the first level for the first time. They think they discovered the location of a number of goblins but decided to scout out the rest of the level. Their lives were put at risk of ending when they discovered an iron door that had been rigged to a battery. Luckily, the key that they had discovered on the body of Jedra the Blue Goblin deactivated the trap and they were able to enter the former panic room/library. Finishing their scouting of the level, the party entered a former tea room. Ruger Maxwell IX, using his fingers instead of his eyes investigating a curious rope mechanism that went up through a hole in the ceiling, managed to pull the rusting parts down, making a clatter that echoed throughout the castle, surely alerting the inhabitants to their presence. What will happen next?
