Session 18: Library raid Report

General Summary

The party approached the library. Atreena did some quick scouting around and found some individuals inside.   Deciding to try to draw them out, they gathered by the front door. Pooka entered quickly and promptly lobbed a javelin towards one of the reading yuan-ti humanoids. He then ported back out with his echo.   Brother Les made a quick move from side of the door to the other and got an arrow in the arm for it from some yuan-ti on the walkways on the 2nd and 3rd floors.   They then made a bold attempt and moved inside. Arrows, magic missiles, javelins, fey blasts and a glowing ball of Pelor's light led their way.   They made quick work of the 2 yuan-ti on the bottom floor and started making their way to the top floor, before some disgusting snake-human abominations came out from the library shelving area. Another jumped down from the 2nd floor onto his butt and promptly got ganged up on.   Pooka fought one alone on the second floor. Atreena quickly made it to the 3rd floor and defeated another.   After a short time, all was quick. They searched the stacks briefly before making their way to the 3rd floor where they found more waiting in a central room. This had a few more intelligent bosses, one that had a snake's head and another that was more human but with snakes for arms.   It was a bottle-necked battle at a single doorway with Pooka and an abomination were head to head until Brother Les managed to shove it back and cleared the way to enter the room. After that, it wasn't long before the party had control and caused the bosses to try to escape, but they were cut down before they had the chance.   Before they died, they knew that Pooka had the Lash of Shadows and demanded he give it to them or die a slow death. The whip was happy to inflict the pain but at the same time, wasn't happy it was creatures like it.   They found research out detailing the construction of the portal. It is a 30ft diameter mirror, surrounded by a silver ring but with 2 opposing insets for emeralds 1ft in diameter. The emeralds were to be infused with the necessary fey portal energy to open the rift.   They also found that the library was theirs to use as a place for research.   Groofrolim took some personal effects from his fallen expedition mates, some additional information on the portal construction and left to make his way back to Uthodern, with his thanks to the party for their help.   It was a difficult and long battle to reclaim the library, but they succeeded. Now, armed with the knowledge of the portal, how will they proceed?
