Finding the Path
Harbek's Hammer's began traveling to the kobold village of Salty Sands via the direct route. Assuming they could make better time by traveling through the light woods as the crow flies. Or in this case as the owl (aka Peachy) flew. Along the way, they had encountered a grizzly bear large enough they chose to go around. This diverted them northerly. At the end of the first day's travel, they had made it almost half of the way to Salty Sands in spite of the detour. After setting up a camp and cooking a great meal they tended to their own evening tasks, established a watch pattern, and settled down to get good long rests. In the late almost moonless night Bazz detected something stalking the camp. He didn't sense anything malevolent and didn't wake the group. However, something approached, and in the low light, Bazz's elven eyes revealed something totally unexpected a Yhatnar patroller. Bazz's ancient history allowed him to properly great the unexpected traveler. As far as Bazz knew no Yhatnar had been seen since before the great cataclysm and they were widely thought to have been lost along with so many other species. The Yhatnar scout after being introduced to Harbek and Aaroe enjoyed the meeting. After a reasonably friendly chat, the scout informed the party they were encroaching on Yhatnar lands and instructed them to remove themselves as fast as possible. When the group explained they didn't know precisely where they were the scout took some of their firewood and in short order carved it into a wooden plank map of the region. After that the part diverted to the south to get out of the Yhatnar territories. With the map, they found their way to Salty Sands where they were greeted with only slight distrust. As the entire village was preparing for the Beltane ritual the group joined in the festivities managing to make a good impression with the chief of the town, a female kobold named Earcorn. The party negotiated with Earcorn through a kobold that surprisingly spoke the Imperial common trade language named Rockcloud. The group learned that the kobolds were aware of the bad behavior of the other kobold tribe they called Green Snake clan who came from Bad Water kobold tribe from the south. They also said that those kobolds were bad and being misled by an elven woman who dressed a lot like Bazz. The party inferred from the details this female elven actor was some kind of druid but they couldn't decide on what god she could be following. Earcorn agreed to help the party with capturing the bad kobolds causing problems for trade. The party was introduced to:- Peaback a wise old kobold who was treated with deep respect by all the other villagers.
- Frostfinger a young kobold warrior who had just stepped into adulthood and was ready to prove his use to the village.
- Beanbelt a young kobold hunter who was friends with Frost Finger and who had also just recently earned a place on the village's hunters ranks.
- Brickhead a disheveled kobold warrior with a scar across his face from some honorable achievement that no one volunteered to explain.
- Dirtwalk a powerfully built kobold warrior and apparently one of the senior village guard leaders.
