Session 20: Investigating Axiom Part 5 Report
General Summary
In the aftermath of the death of Ones, Rayla Moonshadow, Bramble Lightfeather Dac Earreac, and Feyre Blackwood struggled with what do next. Dac attempted to track where the gearforged assailants went, but could not figure out where to find them. Feyre attempted to search the fallen Gearforged assailants for clues but only was able to locate a few coins. Fearing what would happen if they were spotted in the alleyway, the group fled to the square.
Meanwhile, Winnow Olafson traveled with her gearforged escort Edgar towards the exit when Winnow spotted cloaked figures leaping the roof of various buildings. Winnow wanted to track them and see where they were coming from tracking them across Axiom. While traveling through an industrial area, Winnow overheard Cadence negotiating at sketchy deal for some sort of weapon with a cloaked gearforged figure. The price for the weapon was that Cadence immediately leave on a new expedition for the Mekanos Infinitum so that she would be out of the way for something involving Coda.
As Dac, Feyre, Rayla, and Bramble attempted to leave Axiom, the found the main square densely packed with gearforged who were listening to Oratorio explaining that the rumors of the Brass Spears of Novus holding a head from a dead gearforged for an investigation were true, including Mikto Rezoule's involvement. Oratorio tried to assure the gearforged had nothing to worry about from the people of Novus, but Coda took to the stage, stoking angered fears that the gearforged were being treated as merely machines. With some stealthy movemnt, the party was able to flee the square before the crowd turned violent.
Winnow and Edgar arrived to the scene of Ones's death soon after. Edgar was put on high alert, needing to raise the awareness of the other guards in Axiom. Winnow pleaded that Ones and the other dead gearforged have their parts scavenged to provide parts for Nana Rosie. Edgar found the assertion improper, explaining that parts like everwound srings are so valuable, but they should be given with dignity. He also explained that the memory gears that all gearforged have can be read by other gearforged but to do so would be to have unrestricted access to the memories and psyche of other gearforged, a violation not take lightly.
Edgar led Winnow to the square as Oratorio and Coda's debate reached a fever pitch. Edgar said he woud leave Winnow to go find the authorities. Meanwhile, fearing for her safety as a "fleshkin," Winnow shapeshifted into a gearforged.
Just outside Axiom, a blockade of Brass Spears took nervous, defensive positions, hearing the angry rhetoric. The checkpoint was quickly mobbed not by gearforged, but by giant spiders. The party sprung into action, but were already deeply injured from the fight the gearforged assailants. During the fight, Feyre was fatally wounded. In the moment of her death, her blood seemed to magically drain from her and collect into a magical orb. As Feyre fell into the void of death, she saw a glimpse of Dimitry Laikanov, her childhood friend. Feyre denied the notion that being a future queen of Novus was in store for her, while Dimitry pleaded with her to accept her destiny. "I want you to need me, to find me. Breach the Caelyx." With these enigmatic words, Feyre was restored to life.
With the help of John, the party defeated the spiders. Feyre felt exceptionally hot after falling in this way and she examined her body, finding her chest branded with a lotus like pattern, and her body aglow from within, illuminating a ticking gear inside of her.
Faced with many questions, Feyre left early the next morning to go home. Still many questions lingered. Why was Ones killed? What is the weapon that was given to Cadence? What is Coda up to? Who is resposible for the creature attacks and why? The day had concluded on their investigation, but much more awaited.
