Session 18: Ancient History

General Summary

• The party need to travel down to Beefalls to see Lucan at his request. Lila and Prick have decided they want to holiday in Magecrest so are coming with them
• On the journey, while stopped by the fireside, Lila tells the party about her late husband - Simon Simons. He worked for the local council and was inside when the original council building burnt down and Prick's 13th birthday. Everyone except him got out safely
• On the way to Beefalls the party are targeted by some assassins, focusing on Dimitri. When they killed them they found a bounty for Dimitri on one of their bodies
• They ended up meeting Lucan in Beefalls, a gnomish town, where the buildings are built up into the trees, impossible for the party of humans to access
• They met with Lucan who showed them an artefact he uncovered. It was too technologically advanced to be from the current time period. Lucan went to many different scholars and all of them agreed. This artefact is proof of an Old World
• Upon investigating the artefact the party realise that it is able to produce still images of what is happening in the current time
• They christen it the 'Snapper' due to the snapping sound it makes
• Lucan also tells the party that he discovered something in the forest
• They follow him through, defeating a hydra and a basilisk on the way
• They get premonitions telling them to turn back but they continue
• Lucan explains that it was a teleport mishap that got his team here originally
• The party come across towering stone walls
• They push open the gates and find an ancient city, frozen in stone. 
• People are frozen in positions where it appears they were going about their daily lives
• The party investigate buildings that seem to be the town hall, the library and some temples. They base this off of picture signs since they do not recognise the language 
• The party see a world map; similar to their own but with different labels on cities
• They find a large collection of books; at least one has a chapter title with a picture resembling their marks
• The book contains multiple different marks, all different. A total of 10
• The party pick up and take a stone man with them. He's holding a briefcase and they christen him Carlos
• They discovered a very large temple to Dearil within the walls. Dimitri starts to get bad feelings in there. When trying to touch the stone people a voice that he recognises belongs to god tells him not to
• The party are able to find smaller shrines to other gods; namely Slaine
• When in a temple with icons of the mark around the mark stings 
• Lucan takes them back to his home where they get to see his museum before leaving for Magecrest
