Session 22: Family Business Report

The party left Mercurio's and traveled to the Town Hall where, after an hour of waiting, they spoke to the mayor of Cree, Malachai. In the conversation, Malachai told the party he was too busy with his own projects to worry aobut the meeting with House Orien, and to get on the good sides of the major families in Cree.   The party then head to the Ferrara Estate and spoke to Contessa Ferrara, who told the party that pirates called the Vipers have been attacking ships and caravans leaving Cree. The last vessel hit was the Aurora a month prior. Contessa hired the party to aid in the investigation due to concerns that information was leaking to the Vipers and she could not trust anyone within the city.   Two leads were provided: the first was a deckhand who had survived the attack of the Aurora and the second was a merchant who had purchases spices before later realizing they were goods stolen from the Aurora.   The party spoke to Desmond the deckhand who told them three ships had appeared seemingly out of nowhere and flanked the ship at rapid speed, boarding the party, and sparing no survivors but himself as he had jumped overboard and swam to shore.   Through the high priestess of the Sovereign Temple, the party asked Contessa to arrange for a ledger to be falsified and present a ship as a target. While speaking to the high priestess, she advised the party that Ruffo, the Halfling, had awoken and was waiting for them at the Drunk Dunk.   Speaking to Ruffo, they learned that he was a Beamer from Merylsward who had come to Cree in search of knowledge and materials before being assaulted on the road and losing his sanity and track of time. Offered to reward them if they visit him in Merylsward in the future.
