Session 2: Cult of the Dragon Report

General Summary

With the Cult of the Dragon moving on from Greenest, most of the party rested and recovered. Wilbo, Hooves, Martha, T-Pain and Lilifern were able to mend over a long rest, while Deo and Cher waved the healing efforts away and hit the local pub to drown the memories of the battle. The next day Deo and Cher are nowhere to be found when the mayor (Castellan Escobert the Red) shows up begging for help. The grain stores of Greenest have been destroyed during the battle as well as most of the structures. He has sent word to Waterdeep but any help from them will be a long way off. Leosin Erlanthar, a local monk and protector of Greenest has gone looking for clues as to why the cult attacked but has been gone far too long.     The reduced party decides to head out and attempt to track down the cultist and find out what they can about their motives, keeping an eye out for Leosin. Mayor Castellan offers what little they have left, 200pg and a wagon to aid the party.     Seeing horses hitched to the wagon pisses Hooves off. Before leaving T-Pain picks up a heavy crossbow because that's how he rolls.     Wilbo & Lilifern scout ahead of the rest of the party/wagon. Being the bad ass trackers they are, they can tell the army is splitting up into smaller camps and heading in different directions. Further down the road the party came to an area where a skirmish took place. After searching, goblin arrows and a few dead kobolds in the bushes confirm our suspicions. The cultists were ambushed. We decide to camp shortly after, sleeping in shifts to avoid a similar fate. 4th shift (Lilifern) see’s torches and sounds in the distance. She somehow resisting the urge to turn into a bear, she wakes up the rest of the camp. The party attempts to set their own ambush.     A group of warg riding goblins come down the trail. Hooves attempts to distract the wargs by throwing rocks and it fails. Chaos erupts and T-Pain is surrounded and goes down within the first 30 seconds to a vicious warg beating. The party focuses on the wargs with Lilifern going “bear” and Hooves tossing javelins like toothpicks. Damage is done but the wargs wont go down easily.     Wilbo is able to snipe a goblin off its warg and the warg turns to flee. We now have an approach for these bastards. More goblins on foot pore into camp. Martha slings firebolts while Hooves rages and charges into the wargs. Lil-Bear swings wildly missing repeatedly, but proves a good meat shield.     Wilbo shoves a healing potion down T-Pain and he rises like a phoenix.     The goblins command us to drop our weapons, Lil-Bear eats the two closest goblins. The remaining wargs bail as they want no part of that. With the wargs gone, the party is able to focus on the weak goblins and the bulk are slaughtered with a few left running back into the woods. After resting the party pushes forward, following the tracks to the edge of a camp in the distance. Martha sends her math challenged raven familiar to scout the camp and returns to inform her it looks like a prison camp.     Lilifer goes ‘cat’ mode for a recon run through the camp. She narrowly avoids being kicked, killed or spotted by rolling well and yelling ‘muther fucker’ after each roll. While she is gone Hooves and Wilbo place bets on if they are running a sex cult.     Lil-Cat returns and informs the party that it is a prison camp and we learn of two higher ups in the cult. Rezmir and his superior Mondath. She also learns they greet each other by saying “Praise Tiamatt, Praise Tiamatts Glory”.........or some shit like that. The party decides to attempt to enter the camp pretending to be cultists here to collect prisoners. T-Pain will be our ‘captive’ since he may be recognized from the ass kicking he took at the end of the Greenest battle. Hooves is hooked up to the wagon to further the charade. At the gate entrance we narrowly pass by somewhat saying the greeting correctly. But that is where the luck ended.     Further into the camp we are asked if we saw goblins on our travels. Attempting to curry favor, Wilbo describes what we saw and tells them to be on guard. Unfortunately this was not wise and the camp immediately went to defcon 4. The party internally rejoices that we now have a much tougher proposition to solve!! They take T-Pain away and in a fit of panic (?) Lilifern preaches the cults wrongdoings against her people. She bound and hauled off as a traitor/spy. Once T-Pain and Lilifern reach the other prisoners they identify that the missing Greenest monk, Leosin is indeed there as a prisoner. He explains that he allowed himself to be captured in order to be taken to Rezmir’s camp, where there is some kind of ‘Dragon Hatchery’. Meanwhile Martha is able to convince the camp that we are indeed there to transfer the prisoners to Rezmirs camp. We will be allowed to do so in the morning, save one. T-Pain is to be executed for his role in the previous battle out of ‘respect and honor’.     T-Pain and Lilifern say ‘fuck that’ and plan an escape. They free themselves from their bonds and sneak attack the guard. T-pain removes his armor and stuffs the kobold into it and props it against the wall. He takes his half naked ass down to the wagon and stows away in a false floor. Lilifern stayed behind thinking she would just get to ‘leave’ with the other prisoners but the next morning when T-Pains escape is eventually noticed, traitor/spy is on the execution menu instead. Lilifern never once tries to be a bear, never, and instead turns into a rat and scurries away! If Lilifern could permanently stay a rat, she would.     Even with all the commotion, the remaining prisoners are loaded into the wagon and Wilbo, Martha and Hooves proceed out with the cultists towards Rezmirs camp and the Dragon Hatchery. Lilifern is ratting it up somewhere, T-Pain is hidden in the wagon floor and Deo and Cher are hopefully done sleeping one off
