Session 36 - Searching for Allies Report

General Summary

36th-40th Moonshine   The adventurers have spent their trip back to Alduran doing various activities. Akio, Panser and Elxis work on their woodworking skills on the way. All the adventurers take great joy in teaching XIV about the world, especially Geoffrey, who takes on a kind of fatherly affection for XIV.   Sorfon spends his time getting closer with Cel'Niana.   40th Moonshine   The adventurers sail into Alduran at midday. The weather is abysmally cold and it rains constantly. The adventurers speak of many things - mostly of their plans for the uprising, and more specifically, plans to infiltrate Quinn Mistsplitter's upcoming Grand Ball. They also talk about boundaries; who is comfortable with using violent means for the uprising, and who isn't. Panser voices his discomfort with killing, however XIV is the opposite.   Panser looks through Flint's old stuff left on the boat, finding his old Crab Gauntlet and giving it to Elxis, thinking it would be a fitting gift. He also comes across Lake's old arrow, which brings up sad memories for him.   Elxis, XIV, Panser and Geoffrey head off in the early morning to find Elxis' friend Kajin Lightcliff. By the late afternoon, they find her at her cluttered hideout next to the Kotoxi People's Wall. They all go to a tavern called the Bard's Trousers, which is a decent place. They try and convince her to join their plot, but she is confused and mystified by their proposition. Eventually they leave her alone and head back to the Steelbeak.   Meanwhile, Akio journeys alone to Telemachus' Arcane Libraries. He re-introduces himself to Telemachus and is toured around the library, which is a nice, if sparse building. He buys a scroll of Disguise Self and requests that Telemachus try and track down a Suggestion scroll. Telemachus says that such scrolls are often frowned upon but he'll try.   Akio, on his way home, gets dinner at a seafood place that his friend works at, getting a nice meal. He talks with his friend over dinner, who says that he heard a local diviner has predicted incredibly bad weather this season. He returns to the Steelbeak earlier than the others and is asleep by the time they arrive.   Sorfon heads to an unnamed tavern to try and find out more information on the upcoming Great Ball. He returns, waking the adventurers to tell them about the Ball - it's happening on the 44th, will be well-attended, and is hosted at Quinn's home.   At that, they all sleep.   41st Moonshine   In the morning, Akio goes out to find transcribing materials. After finding those, he comes back to the Steelbeak and transcribes Disguise Self into his spellbook, which takes a little while. After he's done, he goes to help Panser, who is currently building item frames for Flint's hammer, Flint's shield and Lake's arrow, mounting them on the left wall of the Steelbeak.   Later that day, XIV, Geoffrey and Elxis go out to find a tailor that Geoffrey knows, hoping to get clothes for the party and something for XIV. The tailors' name is Errich Stonebark, a very feminine and slender halfling male. They explore the shop for a bit. Elxis buys a set of fine clothes. Geoffrey eyes the glass case in the store, which holds a fine VALENCE jacket - a black jacket interlaced with opalescent chainmail. He doesn't buy it.   After that, XIV inquires if Errich could make him a cloak that could fit over his armour. Errich is eager to help. The rest of the day, Errich helps build a massive navy blue cloak with gold filigree that XIV can wear. Errich is glad to meet the adventurers and seems like he's been bored for a long time.   On the way home, Elxis buys some woodcarving tools.   42nd Moonshine   In the morning, Panser puts finishing touches on the memorial item frames. Most of the day, he practices possible performances with XIV for the Great Ball which is in just two days.   Meanwhile, Akio goes out to Alduran and tests out his Invisibility spell, getting used to it. It lasts two hours. After he's done with that he returns to the boat.   On the evening of the 42nd, the adventurers all discuss in more detail what the plan is for infiltrating Quinn's party is.   43rd Moonshine   Cel'Niana speaks with Elxis on their own plan - they both like the idea of ransacking Quinn's home upon infiltrating it. Cel'Niana mentions having some useful cantrips.   In the afternoon, Panser, Elxis, Akio, Geoffrey, XIV and Sorfon make their way across Alduran to the Golden Barrel tavern run by their old friend Paldar Koser. Business seems to be going incredibly well, and the audience of the tavern seems to have become more upper-class. Sorfon is eager to please the adventurers, and intrigued to meet XIV, though is frantic to get back to his own business so he can only speak briefly. He gets them all meals and drinks on the house.   They have a new chef, a half-elf named Braendyn Bilger, who cooks them the most expensive item on the menu, a fried fish sprinkled with gold flakes. XIV makes a strange discovery - he can eat food and actually taste it! The food seems to be incinerated in his body, yet he actually tastes it. He also drinks, finding out he can indeed get drunk (much to the alarm of the short little halfling bartender). Akio notes the strangeness of this - why would a construct supposedly built for war that needs no food have the function to taste things?   All of them except Elxis and Akio get drunk that night.   Sorfon goes to his place, where he will sleep, planning to meet the adventurers at the Great Ball the next day.   Akio does similarly, going to his own house to sleep there.   44th Moonshine   It's the morning of the day of the Great Ball! Akio is sleeping at his home, and Sorfon is doing the same.   XIV discovers he actually doesn't get hangovers, which means there aren't really drawbacks to drinking for him. He also finds out he can "heal" Panser's hangover.
