Session 38 - Iaidar Returns Report

General Summary

44th Moonshine   The adventurers, exhausted and excited - though Panser is wracked by guilt - return to the Steelbeak in the late evening.   The group consoles Panser on his guilt, as he feels devastated by what he has done at Quinn's Grand Ball. XIV and Cel-Niana learn of the events at Greenroot, something that Panser has recently been reminded of after encountering Eliza Wattlefield.   XIV also voices his fears about returning to Iaidar.   Geoffrey returns late at night, following summons from Panser using the Sending spell. He says he woke up in bed with two girls he didn't recognise. He also uses Sending on Sorfon, who doesn't respond.   45th Moonshine   There is a vast storm over Alduran. Panser uses sending again on Sorfon, to no avail.   In the early morning, the adventurers set sail, managing to leave the cove without damaging the ship.   45th-51st Moonshine   The adventurers travel towards Iaidar's residence in the Steelbeak. Akio practices calligraphy. Elxis builds a puzzle box. Panser plays music and XIV speaks with Geoffrey.   51st Moonshine   The adventurers think they are reaching Iaidar's estate, but soon realise they have actually landed on the Northeast coast of Valma island. They notice that three goblins are in the trees nearby.   The goblins turn out just to be here to do fishing. Again, they set sail.   52nd-56th Moonshine   The adventurers set sail again and continue most of the same activities.   56th Moonshine   Finally, the adventurers arrive at Iaidar's estate. They meet the gnome Bodgashka, who everyone is alleging is stealing rations. Akio starts to teach XIV calligraphy. Elxis cleans up his room, which one belonged to a cartographer. Elxis also gives XIV the puzzle box he made, which XIV accidentally breaks.   57th Moonshine   XIV, Panser, Geoffrey and Cel-Niana head to the ruined city near Iaidar's estate and wander around. XIV asks for a moment alone. He sits in a ruined plaza and feels a strange sense of solace and familiarity.   Meanwhile, Elxis is in Iaidar's library, searching his collection. He finds the blueprint for the Thieving Blade enchantment.   58th-60th Moonshine   The adventurers explore Iaidar's estate. XIV mostly stays in his room. Elxis begins to plan for infusing the Thieving Blade enchantment with his deerhorn knives. Panser does performance for the slaves at the estate.   61st Moonshine   In the morning, the adventurers make up a story to tell Iaidar, that XIV, Geoffrey and Akio stayed at the residence the whole time, and that the others went to Quinn's Grand Ball.   Iaidar arrives at about midday, and is happy to see the adventurers, but soon the tone becomes serious as the issue of XIV is brought up. Iaidar goes upstairs to where XIV is in his room.   Iaidar seems convinced that XIV still serves the Kaldar Imperium - in the ultimate test, he throws out his arms and throws his sword aside, and proclaims himself an enemy of Kaldar and the Kaldar Imperium. XIV just walks past him.   Iaidar realises, in that moment, that he was probably wrong. He gives up trying to categorise XIV as a weapon. The conversation soon changes to the plans for the uprising. He explains the new, near-complete plan. The group discuss the symbol of the uprising, the steps it will take, and more, and Iaidar tells them their new mission - to travel to the city of Atama and convince the goblins of Harikan'a to blockade the road out of Alduran.   62nd Moonshine   Geoffrey awakens early, Akio transcribes the small map Iaidar drew of their mission's locations onto his main map.   63rd-64th Moonshine   The adventurers sail to the ruined city of Bronzeshore to begin their journey to Atama. XIV practices drumming, instructed by Geoffrey. Akio practices woodcarving.    Late one night, Elxis practices her catapult spell, seeing dark shapes in the water.   64th Moonshine   At about 3pm, XIV notices the shore of Bronzeshore city rapidly approaching. He musters the adventurers as quick as he can, and they man the oars to try and slow the ship, while XIV tries to turn the wheel so the ship doesn't crash head-on into the beach.   The ship slams into shore. Geoffrey, Cel-Niana and Panser all grip tight to the boat. Elxis is launched across the deck, and Akio is launched overboard into the sand, but Elxis casts feather falling so neither are harmed.   XIV is launched into the wheel, accidentally ripping the steering wheel off the boat, falling over into the canopy. The canopy tears and wraps around him, and the frame holding the canopy up is broken. The keel of the ship suffers tears and cracks.   The adventurers recover from the crash, anchoring the ship to a nearby rock in the sand. It's high tide, so the ship will be safely on land in a few hours.   In the evening, Panser casts Sending to Sorfon. Finally, he responds, and simply says "Sorry for not responding, I have business to attend", and nothing more.   Akio sends out Prometheus to scout the city of Bronzeshore ahead. He spots a large ruined court building. The group makes their way there in the hope of finding shelter.   Just as Panser is setting up Leomund's Tiny Hut, a horrific creature rears it's head over the broken roof of the building. It drops to the ground and the adventurers fight it. It kills Prometheus mercilessly, but is easily split in half with a mighty swing from behind of XIV's greathammer.   The session ends with the creature dead, split in half, across the ground, it's mysterious bloody leather sack at it's side.
