Session 2: Mysteries Abound Report

General Summary

Rhiannon meets the tiefling Aerilyn and together with Happy they traveled to the field hospital where Happy recognized the "patients" as fiends.    Shen reunited with Gaius now with Xara along side and together they visited the families of some of the missing folk, but were unable to find a connection. Traveling to the Zhelezo guard precinct in the Crescents district, they learned of an attack that seemed to start off this plague, fearing that the disease was in fact a magical curse of some variety, they traveled to the nearby Sunfall Sanctuary to report their findings to the clergy.   In the office of High Priest Arnold Flintriver, the two groups united to learn that the disease seemed to be caused by the poison of a demon called a rutterkin. The fowl creature would normally walk the fields of the Abyss, how it got here to the Material Plane remains a mystery, but you know that it is less effected by elemental magics. With no real leads on the location of this demon, the party traveled to the Exalted Collection Auction House to meet with Lord Rhymmer.   At the auction house, you all found a perfectly mundane (not to mention mediocre) painting. However, Happy detected a fiendish presence and with some help from Rhiannon slayed a small demon called a quasit. This unnerved Lord Rhymmer enough to forstall the auction and let you outright by the painting for the hearty sum of 4000 gp and an additional 400 gp for delivery charges to take the painting to the Sunfall Sanctuary, who footed the bill for the potentially demonic work of art.   You course is clear: find and destroy the rutterkin before it can infect anyone else and determine how it arrived here, which you believe is tied to the painting of Rhiannon's dreams.
