General Summary

Previously: Lair of the Vampire
Exploring further into the crypt, the Party encounters a horrific creature. Having identified the squirming mass of eyes and teeth to be something they can't leave alive, the party springs into action, attacking from a distance and avoiding the worst (and weirdest) weapons of the Gibbering Mouther in the corridor.
After a short but tense battle, they explore the end of the corridor, finding two Ersatz Eyes from the mouther, and finding that someone had used the softening aura of the monster to tunnel further underground. The tunnel is short and empty, but magical senses pick up a connection between this place and the ley-line of necromantic energy felt in the chasm under Tresendar Manor.
A re-reading of Argus Skeel's letter brings concerns that the Myrkulite presence in the area is stronger, and more purposeful, than they had previously known. After ensuring the protection of Corellon extends to the whole graveyard, the party returns to Phandalin with the guards and the two rescuees.
