Mini 11: Urgot's Den Report

General Summary

5th of Keltier 1524 Continued

  For now, all is calm, as the party and the rescued guards hold the prison area of the building they are in. The party has the guards search the goblins for anything of use or keys. Balthazar gets some scraps of leather to be able to cast mage armour.   Galanith sneaks upstairs to the caged off area the guards told them about. She can see two goblins on watch at a table through the bars but they're currently not keep a good watch. She heads back downstairs and tells the group about this. They discuss tactics before arranging everyone to head upstairs quietly.   However the goblins did hear them and are ready for them as they head up. The group quickly shoots and kills one of the goblins while the other runs. Galanith spots the keys on the table and Balthazar magically grabs the keys that allows the group to open the barred off area they're stuck in. They call down for the guards they freed to follow them. Nobu moves to keep an eye on where the goblin ran off to while the others think about finding their stuff. The goblin Nobu is watching calls for help. This prompts him to attack the goblin and call for the guards under his command to come up and help him with the goblin.   Nobu finds a larger common/dining room with more goblins in it through doing this. They call for help and back up. Galanith runs to follow Nobu and support him. Isabelle doesn't their stuff, but does unlock the storage area downstairs. Working together, the group is doing well against the goblins. Balthazar and Nobu hear bad luting outside, but ignore it for now.   Galanith uses a Burning Hands spell to great effect as tables in the hall catch fire with one or two goblins burn to death and others are badly damaged. As the fight continues, the two guards working for Nobu flip a table to use for cover as the fire catches the materials for bomb making that was on the table, causing it to spread rapidly. The goblins knock Nobu out as they continue their assault. The guards working for Nobu quickly pull his body away from the danger.   Meanwhile one of the Goblin Leaders has come down from a room upstairs to join the fray. Isabelle looks to see this Goblin coming down. He has tattoos and wraps on his person. He looks far more built then the goblins they have been fighting. He rages and recklessly attacks those around him.   Back in the dinning hall, as if knowing danger is nearby, Nobu stirs himself awake and is back in the fight as per his training. As the fire grows, the room is filling with smoke which is obscuring parts of the room. Some of the guards started to fall in combat. Nobu has two guards down while Balthazar has one down currently in need of attention. One of Balthazar's guards uses a goblin's body to try and put the fire out, but the goblin had bomb materials on his and explodes, killing him instantly.   Outside the fall, the leader goblin has an aura of fear exuding from him. This effects some of the guards and Kaida. He stomps down the steps, easily causing Kaida to disappear as she is brought down to 0 hit points. He is now at the base of the steps, hurts the guards who dare to stand in his way.   Inside the dining hall, slowly the goblins have their numbers dwindle as the party kills them off one at a time with their guard friends. The goblins in the hall continue to try and fight their way out as a goblin body explodes, spreading the fire even more. One goblin tries to climb up the chimney but Nobu cuts him down before he makes it too far. Balthazar, Nobu and the guards stablise their fallen before starting to run out of the building and jumping over the fire to do so. They exit out a side door to this building.   The fire has continued to spread in the main hall, while outside the hall, the goblin leader's tattoos said to glow red with power as arrows pepper him. He easily downs three of the guards as he stalks towards Isabelle down the steps. The guards and Isabelle are able to take him down before he does anymore damage. The group is directed to the nearest way out by the guards. This leads them out to the walled off courtyard where the towns people have been kept. All the goblins out here have been killed.   Brienda runs up to hug Isabelle, as she runs out of the building and orders the guards to unlock the people when she passes out the key. Brienda tells Isabelle Leolen isn't feeling well but they took care of the spellcaster out here. A weird lightning storm had come out of the body.   Isabell directs the towns folk as they are freed to put out the fire. The towns folk do as ordered, running around getting other buckets from around the courtyard and form a line to pass water buckets down.   Outside the building/courtyard, the guards go and let one barrel pour into the room after lifting it together to place in the large dining/meeting room to try and save the floor. They fill buckets with the ale from the other barrel to throw on the fire.   Working together, between the two teams, the fire is slowly taken care of. At this point, the sun is starting to rise and Balthazar finally takes a point of exhaustion for being up for so long.   The party is able to regroup in the courtyard while Galanith prays for healing over everyone aside from Brienda. Thankfully after all that they had only lost one guard in their escape attempt.   After a short rest, they search for their stuff in the fortress. They find their stuff and evidence of the the Goblin's plans and intentions for the rest of the area had they not been stopped. It seems that by crossing a doorway, which counts as two trees touching to form an arch, a target can be shifted by the magic of the stone god. There was also a hunt for a magical child to help their stone god (Brienda and her description).   Kaida is resummoned and her hat is returned to her to make her appear as a cat once more. When the group returns downstairs the townsfolk have started to organise themselves with going out into the town to look for goblins and start sorting their town out. They approach the town's folk about a place to rest. They are sent to the Horse Shit Inn. Brienda, Killi and Leolend were sent ahead already.   Most crash when they get to the inn at 6am, but Isabelle, Galanith and Brienda stay up to talk a little. At 3pm when Balthazar and Nobu wake up the towns folk tell the group that some royal guard partols have arrived and would like to talk to them. Brienda stays out of sight when the patrol arrive.   Isabelle fills the patrol in. A female Captain, Dame Elara Thornfield, leads the patrol. After discussing what happening in the town and getting the story of what the party has done here, Dame Elara offers they a favour as a personal thanks with the standard reward. They receive a letter of recommendation to get access to archives within the Capital for research. She also writes up a letter to allow the group an audience with the Queen.   The Dame will be helping provide leadership and support while they rebuild. She recommends the party stay in town a few days to throw them a feast. She gives the group 1000 gold. Balthazar and Isabelle work together to split the gold. Each person gets 143 gold except for Nobu who graciously only takes 142 to make the split work.   With the Dame gone, they discuss the party and discuss how to have Brienda attend but not be recognised. They all try to see through the hat of disguise with Kaida wearing it, but cannot manage it. Balthazar takes time to identify some items:
  • Axe found in the treant at Brienda's home - Vicious Handaxe
  • Lantern found at altar - Lantern of Revealing
  • Scroll found at altar - Misty Step
Afterwards the group seperates to do their own things.   • Isabelle goes outside to observe and connect with nature. • Galanith finds a temple of Haelyn to help to rebuilding and healing. • Balthazar goes to look for a pearl. Afterwards he goes to look for a library to help out a little and do some reading. • Nobu spends time relaxing.  
While Balthazar is research the time Brienda went to sleep and find a card. He pockets the card and says nothing.  
 

6th of Keltier 1524

  The next morning as everyone gets up, Nobu goes to bed. Nobu asks Balathazar to look at some dust while he sleeps. He identifies it as the Dust of Sneezing and Choking.   At breakfast, after the identifying, Balthazar shows the group the card he found. Isabelle looks over the card to read it as she did the last card. Its says:   Divination is a mirror, reflecting truth even if it is unseen or unwanted. It's then the role of the viewer to act or it might as well have gone unseen.   Today the party does the following:
  • Balthazar works on a few spells he was working through.
  • Galanith continues to work on the temple.
  • Isabelle and Brienda walk around town together.
  • Nobu has a bath when he wakes up.
When they are getting ready for the party tonight, Brienda puts on the hat and changes into a mini Balthazar and knocks on his door. Balthazar is amused and Brienda is disappointed he's not mad. Balthazar sees through the illusion and a scroll appears next to the original card they found which was on the desk he was working at. He identifies it as a scroll of Arcanist's Magic Aura.   At the party, everyone has a good time and enjoys the feast. Isabelle gets the promised letters. Brienda is introduced as Wanda to the Dame in her disguise. Everyone continues to enjoy the party. Nobu is the last one at the party, determined to outlast everyone. Balthazar has to come and get him so they can have a group discussion. As they head up, Nobu jokes about Brienda being a dragon when Balthazar says that he needs to tell him things about her.   When with the group Balthazar fills in Nobu about Brienda, some of who she is and why the group has her currently. He also explains the cards they have found from the Umbraconti. After their discussion, they head to bed.

7th of Keltier 1524

  The next morning the party leaves the town and heads West to Rotterham.   Before they leave, they speak with Killi and Leolen. They will stay since Leolen is ill with blood sickness. They part ways here. When Leolen is well, they will try and find local work.   Isabelle checks with the locals about information about the area. She learns:
  • There is a hidden elven village nearby called Eidenholm.
  • There is a Sidhe Glade, which is enchanted. It holds the purest water in the plane.
  • Rotterham recently started up a crystal mine in the last year.
At 11am when Nobu wakes up Isabelle discuss what she found out with the group before the head out. There is a possibility that the hidden city could have knowledge to do with the fey which could connect back to Brienda.   By 8pm they arrive at Rottenham as a royal patrol guards are leaving the town. An older gentleman is leaving the town. They have been trying to get to Urgot's Den. The party fills the group in on what has happened. The leader, Viscount Randall Afrindunn, captain of the knights of Avani, declares the Dame Thornfield is a witch and that could be the only reason she beat him there! The group rides off after he talks shit about Dame Thornfield for a few minutes. Leaving the party disgusted by his behaviour and feel bad for the Dame.
